Are all main dealers doing this now?

I left my Mrs' CR-V with Bracknell Honda this morning for an MoT and service and they just sent me a video of a walk around the car, pointing out areas of concern.
I was really impressed as the guy was showing me the tread depth of the tyres, the amount of braking material left on the pads, and.... my utterly destroyed dust boots on the front dampers.

Are other dealers doing this now? I thought it was an excellent bit of value add.

In the last few months I've had a couple of friends tell me that they've had this done at a recent service, so it must be a new thing what with it being so easy to make and send videos nowadays. A friend of mine took his Ibiza for its first service and although there was nothing at all wrong with it, he still got a little video walkthrough showing the underside and such.

I wonder if I'll get one when I have mine serviced next.

Also a couple of months ago, I got an email from the (Ford main) dealer where I bought my ST220 five years ago with a personalised video saying they have lots of cars in stock and I should come and take a look!

My wife had her Defender in for it's first service this week and got a video of the health check done on the car. She also got a goodie bag, which included a large(ish) jar of sweets!

To be fair the service was hardly cheap...

The more I think about it the more I think it's a great idea. How many people actually go to the dealer to pick up their car and talk to the mechanic doing the checks?
It's cheap to do, adds a lot of value, and I guess reinforces why you need to spend £xxx to fix the piece of car hanging off the vehicle.

It made me feel a little less unhappy about parting with 250 English money anyway.

It's moved on from pictures to videos, when I took my wifes Yaris to our local Toyota dealer they took pictures all around the car and inside. Suppose it protects both side, hopefully should the car be damaged in some way.

I've had videos from my local VW dealer showing tyre wear with the values chalked onto the tyre as outer / middle / outer - it's a nice touch.

I think dealers are certainly starting to realise little things can improve peoples perception a great deal. The last service the Smart had in Birmingham I got an easter egg! So far the 2 services my Auris has had from Toyota Nottingham have been good but nothing video or freebee related :(

mine just give you a report of things they have made up that need attention but don't really

I thought that is how main dealers made there money! The VAG dealership who mot'd my wife's car were appalling! No video and to be honest I'd rather have a tenner off the already exorbitant price!
