People who have HIV knowingly have unprotected intercourse should immediately be put behind bars for attempted murder ( for the ones who did not get infected) and murder ( for the ones who did get infected).

Why?

It's not a death sentence anymore than other STDs if caught and treated, or should anyone with a STD be charge under the same rule as if undetected could be fatal.

Agreed if he knew then to have un-protected sex is unforgivable and no doubt 'Merica will have some laws regarding it (harsher than if he gunned some people down no doubt but that's a different arguement)

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say it's no different from other STDs the only other one than will never leave your body is herpes IIRC and that doesn't really cause any issues.

HIV on the other hand is with you for life and means a lifetime of popping pills with side effects.

Indeed, and to add to that a lifetime of medical monitoring to ensure that the virus hasn't started to develop an immunity to the particular antiretroviral cocktail which is working for you.

One thing not commonly mentioned is that even if you have 2 people who both have HIV it's still not a good idea for them to have unprotected sex, as the strains of the virus they're carrying could have different immunities. This means that combining them could be disastrous as there is a limited number of antiretroviral medications.

HIV should still never be underestimated, it's no longer classified a terminal illness but the potential for it to be is always there.
