I understand the point of the image, but the fact Iraq had WMD and the willingness to use them is undeniable.

Last I checked the schengen area didn't extent outside Europe. Maybe they expanded it without my noticing?

It wouldn't work very well anyway. I doubt many would be terrorists would be on direct planes from Paris to Syria.... A "holiday" flight out of the Schengen zone to one of the ex Schengen zones would do it...

Moses has a point about guns and explosives, but the they are land borders. Ues there is wholesale 10ft barbed wire fences installed along each border slipping guns and explosives over the border would be pretty easy.

For example the leader of the plot was previously in Syria, already had a terrorism conviction and was a wanted man... he managed to slip back into the EU. The fact he holds a Belgium passport isn't all that relevant. Stopping fighters from being able to sneak back in is rather useful.

Yup, they're simply attempting to get everyone to hate them in actions against them, and hoping that the forces between them accidentally inflict damage on each other. Additionally they want one state to publicly "own" the killing of members so they can publicise that the French, US or Russian politicians etc are impotent.. causing loss of face etc (in the case of asian cultures) because another state could do what they could not.
