As my new build will be in the living room I need a quiet case, I've been looking at the case below because a) will go with the black/red theme I'am going with and b) comes with the fan controller so I can set to low when not playing games

I really need a noob proof way to control the fans so if anyone has a suggestion I'am all ears ;) £150 is the most I'am looking to pay though

P.s white is also an option

Thanks

Another thumbs up for the Fractal cases - not the most exciting looking but they are very, very quiet and build quality is excellent.

I've got an R4, it's made from steel though so it's a very heavy case. It's got sound insulation foam as standard. It does a fairly good job at insulating sound, although I can still regularly hear my GPU fan (7970 windforce) at around 45% load or more. It is however, a very very noisy GPU heatsink. If I manually set my GPU to <40% and have my system fans at 5V, the case is effectively silent.

It's a good case, but I'd personally opt for something different next time due to the weight.

If you want a 100% silent case go for a Streacom FC8 Evo or if you dont want to use a low profile graphics card the HDFlex H5. The whole case is a headsink and looks great to boot (I ran an FC8 for years).

Does anyone know if a R5 is big enough for an e-ATX mobo?
I know it's only meant to be an ATX case but I've seen a build online with a E-ATX in a R5.
Apart from overhanging the cable routing holes a bit, are there likely to be any other problems with the build?
I was going to put the OCUK X99 bundle in one.

You might want to consider looking at the latest Intel NUC fan-less units. I upgraded my fan-less HTPC system to a NUC unit and I'm very impressed with it - especially considering it has such a small footprint.

It's not compatible with e-atx. I would go for a Enthoo Pro personally. R5 is a great case though :)

I've just installed my e-atx X99 Deluxe into my old R4 because the Enthoo Luxe I bought was waaaayyyy too noisy. It all fits great and it is near silent. I am sure than an e-atx motherboard would fit into an R5.
I also front mounted my H110GT and only had to shift the bottom hdd cage abck to allow it to fit. Again, another vote for the R5.
