Has anyone else had any neurological oddness after an operation? Don't want this to be considered a medical thread as I suspect there's little that can be done anyway.

I had 4 hours under general a few weeks back and since then I keep having freezes mid conversation, have trouble finding the words I want and to be honest I thought I was going nuts until friends started pointing out that I didn't seem quite right. It's causing havoc with my piano playing. :(

Is this normal and has anyone else gone through it? How long until you got back to normal?

Pretty sure you should consult a professional.

I went under general a few years back to have a bunch of wisdom teeth removed and was back to normal as soon as the tiredness wore off. Nothing like what you're experiencing.

That article is useful. I'll call my consultant as I thought I was being a DQ. Didn't realise it was a thing.

Yes the speed with which you're sent off is a bit

interesting, though i hate a GA more so for the massive tube that goes down my throat and means weeks of a sore throat after, i've never experienced your symptoms. oh dear more reasons to fear now ;)

10 days to go for a possible? (prolly a wart) carcinoma removal from my face, as soon as the doc said Local, i was smiling.

prolly watched too much Green Wing hehe.

have thr drugs used in a GA changed recently?

Never had a GA, but my son had one when he was 4 (he was having a biopsy on his colon).

I held him as they injected the anaesthetic and how quickly he went out like a light was a bit

The theatre assistant swifted him out my arms and onto the trolley and they wheeled him into surgery.

4 hours under a general anaesthetic is a long time. Remember, you have basically been poisoned. I would quite expect that this may take some time (Weeks/months) to fully recover from. Though obviously you should talk to your doc about it is you are worried.

my mum said she thought they killed me when i had a GA :D had injection in the back of my hand and then i had this horrible bubbling feeling go up my neck and i gasped then i was asleep in a second lol

I know you don't want this to be a medical thread but there's little way to avoid it so please do speak to a medical professional if you're at all worried. I hope that it sorts itself out soon though.
