Weird question, but aside from going through the NHS - where would I start if I wanted to pay for sessions to get the ball rolling quicker?

Ta! :)

I went through the NHS, got referred to the correct agency for support, and then had the option of going on the waiting list or paying and it starting almost right away. Luckily my mum agreed to help me out and so I paid.

I got details from my local gp. Again it was something stupid like wait 6 months for free on the nhs (seriously when your in such a state that you need therapy?????) or start straight away if I pay which was £20 per session.

I paid and was well worth it. Weekly sessions and with the same therapist as I pull have seen on the nhs. Good news was that 3 months later she told me a vacancy had cropped up and I could now move onto the nhs for free.

And also I will say therapy was the the best thing I've done in my life and exactly what I need cause I was in a bad place.

There are plenty of private counselling services available if you want to pay.

Try contacting your local health partnership and asking as they should have the contact details available.

Depending on what you need counseling for narrows it down a bit if that makes sense. There are many free sessions dependent on what you need it for.

Load of crap for me

If you didn't need counselling before, you certainly will after GD is done with you :p

Different strokes for different folks. A public forums is definitely not the way to spill your guts, even a professional might not do it for you (though err on the latter). I was one of those people who'd think (if not say) "just suck it up" when other's mentioned mental health/emotional issues...

Talking to friends and being up front about me feelings with EVERYONE (inc. the main protagonist) was what did it for me. Had no time to wait for professional help, had no funds to do it properly. YMMV but good luck :)
