Philips Fidelio X2

If you want them for gaming then the K702 are pretty much the same headphones except without the torture bumps on the headband, the Q badge on the cups and the extortionate price.

If you want them for music, do your ears a favour and pay the extra for the HD 650.

It's a rarity for my AKGs to be used for music since I got the HD 650s, the Sennheisers just sound so much better in every way and are a lot less fatiguing. They still rule the roost for gaming though, that huge sound stage and pinpoint accuracy works so well with Dolby Headphone.

Received my X2 today. Here is my mini review of the X2 ( I am mainly comparing it to my previous headphone HD 595). Build quality is excellent, its feels heavy with high quality metal compare to the plastic 595. Sounds is outstanding, I can definitely "hear" more compare to my Hd 595 which was a surprise!! There is also more sound leak compare to my 595. I think the only negative thing i can say is the cramp pressure is abit high and maybe it will get uncomfortable for prolong use but I will see if i can adjust it somehow. However in all an excellent headphone, highly recommend it to anyone!

Gaming - Q701 or K702, etc from AKG will not be beaten for the money

Music - HD600 or HD650 if you like vocals, if you like bass then get an X2

I've not tried my HE-400 yet with my AUNE T1 (been super busy) but it doesn't sound special driven from my phone. It's super efficient so my phone is adequate enough to drive it.

If the HE-400 doesn't sound any better to me with proper amping I'll most likely flog them but I've not tested them properly yet, bass wise they didn't sound anywhere near as good as I was hoping, the X1 sounded better.

X2's have now sold :p

I got back what I paid for them so not out of pocket and I got to listen to them which was exactly what I wanted. Q701 will remain in ownership for the foreseeable future.

So they are a keeper! I've owned £999 cans and these are more fun to listen to! Recommended over pretty much everything at £230

I think the price drop already happened. You might get £150 on black friday but you'll need eyes of hawk and speed of cheetah if you think you'll get one.

These have removable pads hence they won't ever get as cheap as the first ones. Also there have been some nice changes to the overall style of the sound - more balanced. Still can do bass nicely if EQed but this is my first ever phones that you don't want ot EQ because of how good they are.

These plus my 1960s style desktop mic and a push to talk button = gaming nirvana so far! Plus I've not enjoyed the chemical brothers so much before!

Just received these headphones. Was very excited until I find the headphones are only working on one side. Tried a different cable and both sides work. Can I get Phillips to send me a free replacement cable or am I better off buying another cable altogether (any suggestions)?

Where did you buy them from?

Ebay from gamestore_247. I don't want to send them back as the headphones themselves work its just the cable.

You can try philips customer support but they might suggest you return them to the retailer if possible. Email them and see what they say, they will require proof of purchase.

I have the X2 they are amazing cans. If you want pads that are even more comfortable than the stock ones check the link below, just fitted them and prefer them over stock.

I have spoken to Phillips, they said they will send a replacement cable if they have one in stock (they can check tomorrow). Thanks for the link.

I should be receiving these tomorrow, very excited. Managed to get them for £155 delivered from Philips' website using a few voucher codes so can't complain for that price if they live up to the positive reviews I've read.

How did you manage that, they have been out of stock for months? I'm on their email alert list and have received nothing.

Odd. I only signed up for stock alerts in the middle of last week and received an email a couple of days later. Nothing in your spam box?

No. :(

Did the email just link back to their normal shopping page?
