What to do in a Paris style terrorist attack - PIA

Has nobody suggested it might be a better idea to attack, in this scenario?

OK, you may fail. The man behind you may fail, but these people aren't here to take hostages. They're not here to have tense stand-offs and fluffy negotiations, they're here to kill as many people as possible, ideally with gunfire, followed by explosives.

By running, you're just giving them more targets?

Good luck with that, you're up against heavily armed people with automatic weapons, body armour, no fear of death and explosive vests.

Unless you go out packing some serious heat then it's a pointless exercise.

My one rule when it comes to this sort of thing. Don't follow the sheep. Run backwards further in. Look for a back door? Roof exit? or whatever seems the best option given the situation. Follow the crowd and you will be followed by the perpetrators who are looking to inflict as much damage as possible.

Never heard of safety in numbers?

If you're going the opposite way to everyone else, then the odds of you meeting your fate are likely multiplied in the first few seconds of that decision.

Yep, i wouldn't like to take a nutter like that on even if i was heavily armed, it won't end well.

The video's from the paris attacks showing the engagement with police, and the police being very nervous whilst trying to attack armed with shotguns tells you everything you need to know about what fighting these folk is like even with equipment and training.

Separate from the crowd and they'll just pick you off.

Its not a bad idea... IF you have the mindset for it - very few people do. (And those that do are probably already in the special forces).

People like to think how they are going to react. I like to think I would do something, but most people will probably panic, either freeze or run around like headless chickens and end up dead.
They have AK47's and suicide belts, I'll have a mobile phone and a latte.

I'm not sure whether the Police who stormed the building will have been highly trained for this type of thing, ideally you'd want the GIGN but with how quickly they had to storm the building it was probably regular Armed Police, it's no surprise they were scared

Does anyone absolutely ****ing hate this constant threat of terrorism bought upon us by the Governments? Every ****ing time I see more than one fire engine blaring down my road I worry that some psycho has finally decided to take it out on Westfields or something. And I'm the type of guy who worries about the smallest things being in order so it's seriously messing with my head. :(

True, but a shotgun and basic police training is still a lot better prep than any of the general public will have to hand in a scenario like this.

The only exception might be possibly if they're reloading, despite what cod would make you think reloading doesnt take 3 seconds, so you might have an opportunity to rush them if you're already quite close, but again not something to do unarmed but maybe something to do if the police are at the door and you know armed backup is seconds away.

+1

I like to think (and do believe) I could pull the trigger against one of them, though the reality may be very different. Last thing you'd want would be for it to jam. :D :(
