Last month i made a request for Crytek's Back to Dinosaur Island VR Demo to be made available to EaaS subscribed developers.

The answer i got back was that unfortunately the Demo was built on a branch of Engine that will never be published, so presumably it was incompatible with the published EaaS Engine.

However they have now published the demo its self on Steam

Because its compiled in shipping format its encrypted and missing vital components which make customisation impossible, thats not such good news for most of us, including me, it cannot be edited and republished for use with Keyboard and Mouse, this is a VR Demo and will require an OCULUS RIFT DK2 Headset.

If you have one, have fun with this :)

yeah absolutely no one is going to click on that thinking it's about a specific game or an announcement about an available title. It sounds like a thread about the 970 being underpowered from the title, nothing more or less.

"Back to Dinosaur Island made available, VR only, 970 doesn't meet minimum standards" would have been an appropriate title for instance.

+1, for a start i didn't know about that thread, its on page 5...

This is also about the Demo, having read it now and all that.... not about what card lacks the power to run it, i'm sure Greg doesn't really want me to bump that one up from page 5, so i can't really do right by him.

At the end of the day i just want to draw peoples attention to the Demo, i'm sure VR owners would appreciate it without the potential unpinned grenade lurking in it.

Shame we can't try this without the need for VR etc. as it looks pretty impressive

+3.

Not surprising that the 970 doesn't support it. Really shows how good AMD technology is, that a GPU from 2013 is still able to perform :)

Yes.

Nope, as it's just been updated with failing to meet minimum spec again, this time with ED, it is now looking likely that it actually is ****ing useless for VR!:p

Pity AMD can't ever unleash the full force of their hardware when it counts though, maybe some of us would still be on AMD instead of ditching them due to being fed up with the waiting.:p

Perhaps in a few years when DX12 is main api, AMD will be in a better place than they are now.:)

Waiting for what? Freesync is out, and it's beautiful. I'm really enjoying the experience on my 390X/Skylake build with a 1440p 144Hz freesync monitor.

The drivers are completely stable for a single gpu, life is good :)
