SHould I upgrade my 2500K

Hi All, my 2500K is getting old in the tooth. But it has been a great chip over the last four years, and runs stable at 4.4ghz. If I were to upgrade, would you recommend a chip and mobo combo which would stretch the legs of a 980ti?

Can't see a 980ti being bottlenecked by a 2500k @ 4.4 tbh.

Unless you are playing games/want to play future games that benefit from more than 4 cores, I don't see the point.

I just went from 2500k at 4.5ghz to a 5820k at 4.5ghz...

Average usage doesn't really show a massive difference. Better minimal fps in some games and some small improvements. Much faster for some demanding stuff though.

2500K was such a sweet spot that its not going to be a 'must upgrade' for a while yet. Sure, there is some benefit for some.. but generally, not worth the expense.

At least I hope so, because if it becomes a must upgrade then my 3570K will be too!

I think I'm holding on to mine for a while too it performs so well I'm still using a 6950 as well I should probably upgrade that soon. Hard drive is getting slower on the boot ups I think it's time to invest in an ssd now they are so much cheaper than when I built this machine. Is it worth having more than 8gb ram now?

I definately need to upgrade my graphics cards, 1440p is killing them nowadays - I wonder if I could sell em?

Now I'm looking at 4k stuff would a 2500k manage that? Are there even any good games in 4k.

As far as I know a 2500k shouldn't bottleneck anything. If your me that bothered put it under water and give it a bigger OC.

iMHO 4k isn't fully ready yet. Even the most ridiculously high end specs can struggle with 4k
If you really want a res upgrade go 1440p
