I7-6700k or a better Motherboard

In two minds weather to get the I7-6700k or go for the I5-6600k and spend the extra money on a better board as all I will be doing is playing games.
But I've seen it mentioned that some of the newest games benefit from the I7

Any thoughts?

If you are looking at 6700K then instead see how much similarly priced X99 is.

Not many games will benefit from hyperthreading if any at all. If you want to future proof yourself for an extra year or two, then go for the i7 incase a game designers to incorp hyperthreading effectively.

Currently, there is no game that will get a worthwhile gain from i7 over i5, nor in the foreseeable future.
