Acer X34 - First Impressions

Guys, little bit of info - I found that my cards were running at 1Ghz clockspeed and full mem speed at idle if I ran 100Hz. Dropped it to 85Hz and it's back to minimal clockspeeds.

Hopefully nVidia fix this soon...

To be honest fella, im the kind of person who will enjoy it for what it is.

Unless there is a glaringly obvious defect that impacts my gaming im not going to go looking for it :)

I understand but I think it's still something to check. If this is an issue that gets worse, then you'd want to identify it as soon as possible.

I completely agree.Scanlines on mine are faint, but there is no guarantee they won`t get worse.

As for Acer they still hasn`t given any statement. No idea if they ever fix it,or if they know what causes problem.

I consider returning my unit ( manufactured in September) and try screen from new batch.

Valid point fella. Will see what time I get over the weekend.

Am looking forward to playing some elite dangerous on it and I know my 3yr old will love truck and farming sim on it lol

It was my intial dillema since I use 970 G1 and don`t want to go for 980TI with Pascal behind the corner.I decided to get a screen anyway and in my opinion 970 is enough for a time being.

Certainly for games like Witcher 3 ,Fallout 4,Mad Max etc. I have to lower graphic seetings quite a bit to get 50-60fps,still can be done.I don`t touch resolution only graphic options.

For CS:Global Offensive where it`s really matter I have stable 100fps without adjusting anything.

My only problem with a screen is scanlines. If you don`t mind them or get unit without it`s well worth it.

I would go with the "enough statement"

I am running a 290x lightning and on heavy duty games its just enough, tho my primary game is not very gpu dependant so i will upgrade when my game pref requires it

slightly diff to you guys but similar!

ohh yes and................... Just do it! i waited from February to buy a new monitor when i bought my new rig, new models came and went and didnt live up to expectation. Ive nvr been so happy to hold off for a purchase to ensure i made the right one

Did we need another thread, now I have to keep checking 2 threads all day!! life is so hard!! :-)

Glad your enjoying it and we have another good example in the forums, I really do think it was a problem with the first batch.

Previously I had an AOC 29" 2560x1080 UW and it was really nice to use but felt a little small vertically so ended up moving on to a 27" 2560x1440.

Instantly you miss the width but you soon get used to 16:9 again.

That said since the 34" models have come along I have constantly been looking at getting one but didn't really want to sacrifice GSYNC (you soon miss it when you don't have it) and the higher refresh rate of the ROG Swift.

This is a lot of money but decided to pull the plug and pick one up while on offer yesterday even though I was a little concerned with all the issues regarding back light bleed and IPS glow.

Anyway I have to say i'm pleasantly surprised, both BLB and IPS Glow are minimal, very minimal from my quick use of the monitor. The prize piece though is that 34" IPS screen, the real estate is just about perfect for a desktop pc and fills majority of my vision. I forgot how much better colours look too with an IPS after using a high end TN for a while. It also reaches the 100hz without hassle. It's also surprising how subtle but effective the curve is.

I'll be doing more tests when I'm off over the weekend but initial reports are it's a beauty.

So far my only gripes are cosmetic, i don't like the tacky Predator logo or the shiny back.
