ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

Certainly puts things into perspective.

(Isis).....off camera, they avoid hanging around in large groups and spend their time among the local population, preferably in apartment blocks that house families. That’s the very first chapter in the dummies’ guide to terrorism.

Look at Mosul: this is a city that is home to 1.5 million people, and at most 15,000 Isis terrorists. If you wanted to get rid of Isis in Mosul, you would have to flatten the entire city.

(Que the obligatory "just nuke 'em comment)

Forget everything you think about the war for a moment and consider this; are the masses of refugees lining up at our doorstep escaping Isis, or our bombs?

Has DC answered how some rusty GR4s and whatnot are going to suddenly make an impact considering France, American and Russia (who I presume have at least an equal if not vastly superior number of bombers at hand) haven't found a solution after at least a year of bombings?

Read the PM Brief, Question #7.

and what about Saudi arabia then....

this is suuni vs shia islam , with Russia and iran siding with shia and assad , whereas Saudi and turkey are both suuni states....

You're right, that's why you should keep religious **** out of children's heads from the get go. Stuff their brains will knowledge instead.

Completely agree. The amount of religious homework my kids get is ridiculous (for some strange reaon most of it seems to be about Islam; they rarely bring home any work about Christianity and have never brought home anything about Judaism or Buddism so I'm not convinced the balance is right enough to give an overview and allow them to make choices). I don't mind some degree of information about it but to ram it down their throats constrantly really winds me up (for any religion and that includes Christianity too).

My folks were teachers, you should be able to register a complaint to your education authority. Usually the teacher is following what they've been told to teach..

Also you should also be able to ask for the curriculum for RE. At which point you can say - what about X, Y & Z.

I personally think that my kids shouldn't be taught anything about the religions, instead the same study time should be devoted to maths or something productive.

Most of the recent terrorists didn't come from religious families nor were they particularly religious before their radicalization. They were involved in minor crimes, gangs etc. The problem isn't religious the problem is these people should be starting bar fights and such but instead they find purpose in extremism.

If it wasn't part of the problem they'd be called something else other than Islamic extremists surely?

Clearly there's something else wrong with them.

There are quite a few things that are wrong with them but Islam is not one of those things. There are 200m Indonesian Muslims and there 350m Muslims who speak an Arabic language. How many Indonesian terrorists do you know?

Please stop with the lies.. It is just going to make the fallout that much more brutal on Muslims. People need to know lies and deception are the biggest tools in the arsenal of Islam. That is how they conquered Afghanistan, Through teachery lies and other brutal methods. Look up the battle of Kabul.

He knows exactly what he is doing that is the sad bit, Either that or he really is clueless about Islam. It is like that wench who was bullied on a Newcastle train and managed to get her fat ass onto TV to say that Islam would not even let her harm an ant.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

An ant? No but killing 80 million Hindus and running a white Christian slave trade is ok.

Bar the Bali bombings of course, there are some attacks, not many.
The Indonesian government made a policy change under the previous president, and that has persisted with the current one.
Their response teams do 'raids' on the various cells when discovered.
Unfortunately, when these raids happen, every single terrorist seems to be killed, every one, every time they raid.
It saves having to put them on trial. The previous trial, where the Bali bombers were convicted then executed was a PR disaster, as the half witted and fully witted bombers talked at length, smiling, about heaven and the virgins who awaited them upon their death.
It generally sickened the Indonesian people, who for the most part, especially in the main populaces are moderate. So the decision was made to try to minimise any further trials and execute at the point of raid, where it could be explained away as a firefight. These raids happen reasonably regularly.

It isn't quite as good for the world stage as back when hey were ruled by dictatorship, as any preacher or cleric who spoke out of turn back then was later discovered by a farmer in his rice field (and quickly reburied), but it is more towards democracy, and seemingly just (depending on your viewpoint).

Absolutely, hell they even chant alluh akbar 50000 times as something gets blown up, can't get any more religious than that surely, screaming god is great, yet apparently it's nothing to do with religion. Derp.

This is one thing I find somewhat odd.
Idolatry is banned within the faith, yet they seek to name their child after the prophet more often than not, and they chant God is great in response to anything, without thought for the words or meaning, they might as well be chanting f and c bombs. It is the same thing under a different term.
