Good morning all well if you are all in the UK that is so when the shops open I'm off to buy a wireless headset for my PS4 I have three that have taken my eye all on sale in Argos what would you recommend out of the three the choices are:

Sony Wireless Stereo Headset for PS4 - which is the official one - £49.99
Afterglow Kral - £34.99
Turtle beach stealth 500P - £54.99

I am thinking of 500P and has the best price knocked off and good reviews online what do you think ?
Thankyou

Got the sony wireless ones myself, fantastic headset. Build quality is extremely impressive for its price, they are light and comfy to wear and last a good 8-9 hours on charge with zero cables (including silly ones to the controller).

In addition the USB dongle works with windows which is nice and they include a 3.5mm jack to use as a wired headset for anything else. Only negative really is the wireless range cuts out at about 8-9 meters from the console but that's no big deal imo.

Was highly impressed when I got mine over a year ago and fully recommend them :)

Thanks Deceptor for your input the 8-9 meters range is not a problem for me I have cancled out getting the afterglow so now a choice of two which are both good in there own ways.

The Sony wireless one is £45 in smyths if you have one near you.

I dunno which one to suggest as I use a different headset.

I have the official Sony one it is great I would recommend, the turtle beach I have seems to be all about the bass and little else still a good set but not as good an all rounder as the official Sony set.

Best wireless is Astro but your talking £100+

Given a budget of £50 I'd go with a USB headset (don't plug into the controller) and get the hyper x clouds v2 (don't get v1).

Sonny you seem like a headset guru, what's your opinion of the Razer Kraken 7.1?

omg don't mention them again. they are a gimmick, i could show you £15 headphones better than them seriously. I sold a pair of £30 headphones in the mm once for £20 and the guy in there was embarrassed to say they sounded better than his £200+ beats. all i have done is researched plenty on head fi it's the best resource for headphones and headsets. sound city on here though as just a good base to learn from.

look in sound city Joe there's people in there that will tell you everything you want to know about a headset. just make your own thread plenty on here do.

imo though everyone should have bought HD598's yesterday from amazon for £75 (black friday deal).

your talking having to spend £150+ to get something slightly better than them for competitive gaming and it's what I use 95% of the time (well i use HD558's that can be modded into 598's by removing some foam). seriously anyone who was looking at a new headset should have bought them yesterday absolutely ridiculous price.

this is a good thread for ideas

do you want a competitive headset (for footsteps) or for immersion (loud explosions, etc)?

competitive:

hd598, k702 and k712 are the top 3 worth mentioning they all require a seperate mic like the antlion mod mic or a clip on mic from china for less than £1.

ATH-AG1

is what you would call a headset on par with the above headphones it's £240 though so as you can see buying headphones and a seperate mic is much cheaper than an all in one.

if you want all rounders that are good for immersive gaming:

hyper x cloud v2, fidelio x1 or x2 or DT770's

the most imo anyone ever needs to spend is £50-£200 there are some crazy people who can spend £1000 on headphones.

I own HD700's, Q701's and have owned HE-400's (now sold).

They are only marginally better for gaming imo than £150 headphones. So when I say £50-£200, the top end of that budget will get you a set you never need to upgrade from ever again in your life.

for people with a very tight budget koss porta pro's are £28 (plenty of mods for them on head fi which turn them into monsters). Koss KSC75 are £15 and use the same drivers but not as comfortable.

i would say those £15 clip on's would be better than the razer headset you mentioned.

DT770's also were on sale on amazon yesterday.

I believe DT880's are on sale today on amazon, worth checking them out (lightning deals).

edit: think you have missed that one also unlucky

This thread got very detailed well USB is out of question unfortunately I have computers all around me so I'm constantly spinning round on my chair

Cheers Sonny, Tbh, footsteps would be most useful, I've got the Razer Kraken, seems ok with me but I've never experienced a good pair of headphones.

I'll check out that store, when I've got the money to drop on a good pair :).

Quite interested in the one you mentioned about modding, might be worth a look at as a cheap side project. Are the mods easy to do?

Had the Sony golds for a year now, audio/mic quality is good enough for me, but the band has cracked in 2 places.....tho as the underneath is padded, they're holding together.

Probably going to go for something different as a replacement, but as for what i've no idea! :)

if you have to go wireless then you only have 2 options:

official sony - £50-£80
astro a50's - £150+

http://www.head-fi.org/t/277487/taking-koss-portapro-to-the-limit-cool-mods

there's literally a hundred different mods you can do for them

just search on head fi for koss porta pro or the 75's

https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/2h51b2/meet_the_kosses_ksc75_and_porta_pro/

mod's will vary in difficulty there is a guy on here who has modded a set. again he posts in sound city part of the forums. he would be who i would ask what mods are worth looking into.

just google "koss mod" or "portapro mod" in sound city his name should be easy to find. or start a thread in sound city.

seriously those £15-£30 headphones can be modded into something people would be happy to pay £150 for

the most famous mod is the kramer mod
