Red Dwarf nailed left wingers with Rimmer, As usual my favourite comedy of all time is still relevant.

We need to nut the smeggers into oblivion.

Think he's confused the London attacks with ISIS.

Saudi Arabia are the main financier of ISIS, yet Western politicians seem reluctant to do anything about it. We all know why. :(

Yeah sorry, I should've correctly differentiated between the 2 seperate Islamic extremist terrorist groups, they obviously have different goals and ideologies

TIL blowing up another country thousands of miles away prevents terrorist attacks in London.

I'm pretty sure they're targeting the very real group of ISIS that have infact taken over a large parts of Syria and Iraq and currently number in the 10's of thousands. I know it'd be nice to hold hands and make peace with them but these are people who would execute us and our entire families given half a chance if we couldn't recite verses from the Quran

I think we should all go to ISIS and lay our guns down. I'm sure they'll do the same. We can then shake hands, be buddies and drink tea.

not only isis we should bomb the moderate jihadists as well

Exactly. We need to follow Russia's strategy and bomb any group that isn't related to the Assad government. We can worry about what happens to Assad later on down the line, but for now we should be bombing in support of the Syrian Army.

No.

My annual tax return says that the Military costs me about a quarter of what Welfare costs me.

Seems good value for money. Hopefully a little target practice will take a few Terrorists out.

Assad needs to stay in place, we've already learnt several times over what happens when you remove a muslim despot, they go and find a bigger/madder/more islamic despot to follow

Actually I've been saying we need to keep Assad since the Arab Spring, when the whole world wanted to depose him :)

Obama is wrong on just about everything these days.

Something obviously needs to be done and things will escalate if nothing is done and even if something is done!

All the countries need to act decisively. Biggest problem is the small 'cells' of these people dotted around the world ready to blow themselves up for their stupid beliefs!

What good will bombing innocent people in Syria do ?

Oh yeah that's right - NOTHING, it will just escalate things giving the government more 'reason' to monitor everyone, inc us.

Those that are burying their heads in the sand saying 'lets bomb em'............I have no words.........ya'll seriously got a screw loose and completely lacking any form of clear thinking, intelligence etc.

Oh yeah who's seen that report of locals in war torn countries printing massive posters of dead children to lay on the ground so drone pilots can see?

Yeah did that help things? Have bombing them helped 'us' for the past 15 years? No...............infact more 'attacks on the west' have happened.......so its obviously not working, reason your way out of that fact.

i would leave them to get on with it us interfering is only bad news down the road. Is there any previous case in recent years where us interfering did end well?

Nothing to do with us...no moral high ground here because there's a truckload of other situations across the globe where you could say there was a moral obligation to intervene and we did f all. Its all bs and propaganda...

I would also make it far more difficult to emigrate to the UK from anywhere basically which would involve a large renegotiation with the EU terms or removal from EU altogether. No more economic migrants please.

Wonder if it would be any good if we rallied the ME countries together and got THEM to fight the problem in their own back yards....At least that way we can't be blamed by these so called jihadists?

Or is that being too optimistic? I dunno, just an idea.....

The plan isn't to bomb innocent people.

It never is -- but they always get bombed, millions upon millions of innocent people slaughtered by the UK/Wests bombs - they don't have the on the ground info to know where everyone is at a certain point in time - only best guess, sure its the way of the world, but bombing, endless bombing has never stopped and they have only ever got a few 'enemies' (which I say loosely as the west's government trains and funds them  )

they already are to some extent

problem is they've also helped fund some of it previously - Saudi has been backing various sunni groups for years as part of its wider proxy war against Iran & the shia population of the middle east

Although joining in the air campaign in Syria sounds tempting, I have to say I'm erring on the side of opposition, especially after reading a recent article in the Independent about a Western journalist who has visited the country. It would appear that ISIS/Daesh/whatever we're calling them this week flourish under the resentment that the bombing can cause amongst the Syrian population.

Isis’s fighters themselves sleep, he said, in barracks formed from “the shells of bombed-out houses”. They number around 5,000 in Mosul, and are spread so widely that were the US to bomb them all “they would have to reduce the whole of Mosul to ruins”, he said.

Todenhöfer says that this ultimately means Isis cannot be beaten by Western intervention or air strikes – despite US claims last week that they have proven effective. “With every bomb that is dropped and hits a civilian, the number of terrorists increases,” he said.

As far as I'm concerned, ISIS members deserve to be completely eradicated without any quarter given. However, I fear we run the risk of wasting thousands of tonnes of munitions attempting to wipe them out and having little effect other than to strengthen their resolve and their numbers.

I don't have an alternative proposal, I'm just not sure further airstrikes are the answer. It's a depressing conundrum to consider :(
