Online Check In, Hand Luggage only...what time to be at airport for?

But it does depend on your commute and if the elements conspire against you!

Exactly. I do a lot of flying and it depends on where I am and the way I am travelling to the airport. Here at home with a 15-20 minute drive along quiet country roads I will leave an hour and a half before my flight takes off. 20 minutes to the airport, straight through fast track security and time for a quick drink in the lounge before I go to the gate. If I'm in a busy city and travelling to the airport by road I will aim to get to the airport at least two hours before the flight to allow for traffic or, if it is a city I know well, I will travel by metro to avoid any delays on the way to the airport.

If I remember correctly Dublin gates can be quite far away from the entrance. I'd turn up an hour before myself and just head straight to security and onto the gate.

Doesn't this entirely depend on which airport? He hasn't said where he is flying from.

If he is flying Aer Lingus from Heathrow its terminal 2 and the gates for them are in the main building right beside where you come out from security.

 he's going to Dublin Wednesday till Saturday with the work night out on Friday. If he's trying to fly back from Heathrow he's had a dam good night out!

Is this the new terminal 2?

I'm flying to Berlin on Wednesday for work, and m,y flight is at 7:05am from Manchester.

I aim to be at the airport for 5:45am.

Easiest solution is don;t bother going to bed. Get to airport early and sleep on the plane.

What's this "lie in" you speak of?

One hour, unless I plan to get something to eat in the airport before the flight.

At Edinburgh airport, sometimes one hour gives you time to kill, sometimes it leaves you running for the gate.

Yea - it's really nice.

I was the 4th flight our out of T2 when it reopened, I quite literally had the entire place to myself. I walked in and there were 10000000 desks and me, loads of smiling people and 800 people seeking to help me with my bag. I also had all the shops to myself and another 20 people. It was surreal.

OP leave 1 hour, that is enough for a flight. Use Aer Lingus online app and it's easy. You will arrive a T2 Dublin too which is nicer than T1 where Ryan Air and others pitch up. I used to fly to Dublin every other week from Brum it's one of the very easiest travel experiences. I can get to Dublin in less time it takes me to get to London!

Just an update.

After 3 and a half hours sleep I made it to the airport 2 hours before hand.

Problem is my flight got cancelled!

Same again in the morning however a much quieter night in hotel bar tonight!
