No. Its from a lack of personal responsibility. You don't have to buy those high calorie or high sugar foods.

 How is that the same? Roads aren't built to help the irresponsible.

If you stay away from those types of food, you pay nothing. This debate happened years ago in the context of smoking, they tried raising awareness, banning adds, adding graphic pics on the packs and none of these really worked. Only after taxes were heavily raised did we see results. The smokers can now be irresponsible if they wish but they pay a heavy price for it. Do the same with bad food and obesity will go back to normal levels.

If you do any sports, you should take out personal insurance that covers the cost of any injuries.

Fed up of seeing theses super fit mountain bikers and Sunday league footballers clogging up A&E with their sprained whatnots and broken thingies.

It's almost as if people are abusing the system.

Oh, wait.

Some of those do have sugars or carbohydrades similar to it. They all need to be taxed, use the money for healthy food subsidies and problem solved.

none of those need sugar.

but please how about an actual chemical list that you want to tax?

as you say "sugar" that of course includes fruit right?

Another step towards a nanny state taxing foods. Doesn't work. Fat people will still be fat and skinny people will still be skinny.

High tax doesn't exactly stop the poorest of society drinking and smoking does it?

Oh the extra tax will be spent tackling illnesses that stem from obesity? Ok.

If you believe that then there is no point.

Being overweight is not being fat, I'm talking about obese people... Apologies.

And as an addition, are not most obese people also poor?

Technically I am obese according to the medical charts. I should weigh under 11 stone to be normal and I weigh 13 stone.

The one and only time in my life when I was close to my "ideal" weight, everybody said I looked too thin.

I dont think I look fat at all, however I am obese so perhaps I should just kill myself now :(

Energy dense foods such as sugary beverages, including 100% natural ones, and processed carbohydrades would be a good start.

They are already looking at a sugar tax. It will be pointless. I think I saw it would add 2p to a tin of coke. Is that going to make an overweight person buy water instead?
