With some of those games I would grab the 980 Ti.

The 980 Ti will be about 35% faster which in The Witcher 3 and Attila Total War will come in quite useful.

Personally I think its insane to spend hundreds to get more FPS in games you've probably already completed.

The jump might be 35% but if your card is making games look good and run decent then it seems mad to change right now. Id wait til pascal.

and not a huge gain in frame rates either...

Why not keep the MSI GTX 980 and overclock it? ;)

1080p - meh not really worth the extra money, if you were upgrading to 1440p then I could see some value in going down that road especially if you have MM access to sell your 980 (sadly I see you don't so fleabay would be your choice)

A quick google of the op's monitor suggests 1920x1080p.

lol - didn't see that!

Yup, I wouldn't bother. For 1080p, stick with the 980 & overclock if you need more grunt!

Can't see the sense in it, it's a smallish upgrade considering it's still in the same generation and even just waiting for the next series of cards would be a much better idea (save hassle of buying, selling, buying, selling or just short changing yourself on performance).

It's a hefty cost to say you already have a 980, I know some people get upgrade itches but lets be honest, it's a waste. You can get more for your money and not mess around by just waiting for the next series of cards. They'll last you longer and be better all round.

Are you happy with your current PC performance? If so, why bother? Save up for next year. It will be way more fun of an upgrade as well.

Upgrading from a GTX 980 to a GTX 980 Ti is a bigger upgrade than upgrading from a GTX 980 Ti to Small Pascal will be.:)

Yep, heard it's a very demanding game Kaap, never played it myself though.

Witcher 3 maxed
TitanX @1441/2002
5960X @4.0
1080p
67fps

Fortunately @2160p it runs better on 4 cards and I get 80fps without overclocking.:)

Of course, you can just turn GimpWorks off in TW3 and instantly boost your FPS by 40% (and your minimums by 100%+), since it's that which destroys the FPS as per usual. ;)

If I was going to spend £200+ on upgrading a haircut, I'd make it mine, not Geralt's. :p

Witcher 3 is hard work on an overclocked TitanX @1080p so a GTX 980 is definitely not up to the job.

Really? I turned hairworks off and it never dropped below 70fps ever at 1080p :confused:

Everything else was maxed out, with SweetFX as well!!

<- Very overclocked 980 GTX :)
