Overweight Haters Ltd

Just having a quick look through this thread and I have not seen any mention of people who are taking meds which increase your size. Not all overweight people you see will be this way through choice, so what about people with Thyroid problems, etc?

i know a couple of people on medication and are overweight - and then they tell me all the time what they eat and its fatty junk food!

I am fat and its my moral right that i take the space of 4 people in a lift, on the tube, on a train and on a bus. Also why dont airlines kick of 10 skinny people on a plane so i can take their place. Also the NHS should only be free for us fatties and we fatties should be allowed to jump any list..... kiss my butt skinny people..... you all are haters coz you aint us.....

Woah, my first post in years.

My family has a history of type two diabetes, so I try to avoid sugary food. Forget about chocolate, sweets and obvious sugary food. There are a ton of minefields just in what people eat regularly.

Most notably, cereal and yoghurts (especially the kind for kids). It's honestly quite depressing when I think about how much sugar people eat without even knowing.

Apparently the RDA is 100g of sugar a day, which actually seems crazily ridiculous. And the RDA for protein is something silly small like 56g.

A 22-year-long study of 80,000 women found that those who consumed a can a day of sugary drink had a 75% higher risk of gout than women who rarely had such drinks. Researchers found a similarly-elevated risk in men.

% higher risk of

Annoys me these 'statistics'.

It's pretty meaningless. Now do they have a 1% chance of getting gout? It's now increased to 1.75%? Or do they have a 50% chance and it's now 87.5%?

Like xyz. '4x as likely to get cancer'. Well while it is increasing your risk, how much we really talking here? Why stop doing/ eating something you enjoy, if we are only actually talking a teeny percentage increase?

It's a bit like going over to someone who looks like they are on Benefits (not talking about disability) and handing them a "GET A JOB" leaflet because the "look" like they are on Benefits.

That's so true, I wear asda jeans, hell, the pair I have on now has ink stains down one leg, manky knees, and I generally look like a scruff (always clean shaven though).
I own my own business (ltd company) have a 1600s*** unit, no debt, and everything is paid for. Appearances can be very deceptive.

define "sugar" and also "added" (as opposed to "concentrated") cause theres a lot of ways around that.

also foods with added sugar is going to include nearly every cooking sauce there is. everything from baked beans to generic pasta sauce.

Yep and since kids are only recommended to have 5 spoonfuls of added sugar per day and there are 9 in some baked beans, this is probably a good thing that it does? There is far too much added sugar in suaces IMO anyway.

But like i said, is 2p going to make any difference to whether you buy that pasta sauce with lots of added sugar or an alternative?
