Im currently sweating on a 400quid warranty/refund that is a little up in the air but if it pays out I wanna treat myself to a new monitor.

Current spec is
AMD 390X
FX 8150
16GIG RAM
990 Sabertooth mobo
850 corsair psu

I wanna go next gen, pref 1440p/144hz but only after reading here ive noticed its one or the other as 1440p doesn't produce 144hz refresh rate am I right?

looking at freesync also, I pretty much already decided until other posts ive been reading today was gonna go for MG278Q ROG Dominator

the monitor in your link is 1440p and 144hz :)

You can get 144hz 1440p monitors, but they cost quite a bit. For example this one goes up to 165hz but is way over your budget: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-088-as.html

This one is also 144hz and also 1440p but is closer to your budget. It uses a cheaper grade panel though: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...n-led-slim-bezel-monitor-black-mo-070-as.html

but that's Gsync with me running AMD wouldn't that cause conflicts? I need freesync???

but on other threads ive been reading when running 1440p the hz is 60-70 HZ not 144, 144hz is restricted to 1080p gaming

apologies, i did not know that, it should be perhaps put in the monitor description on the sales page, as its a bit misleading otherwise..

Ive been looking at monitors recently as well (you may have seen my post) I'm thinking the BenQ XL2730Z is the one to go for without spending mega amounts of cash, if you want 144hz & 1440.

What I dont know however is are there any downsides to the BenQ and if you didnt want to spend that much is 1080 too much of a compromise eg does it make things a bit fuzzy on a 27" screen?

I wouldn't have thought so as I run MGS5 via hdmi to my 47" lcd tv and its fine so imagine it will be just as good. but if u want 1080p gaming theres monitors half the price that will suit you!

I'm mainly want to be blown away when I try it out and 1440p @ 144hz will do for sure!
