I am itching to upgrade my pc for christmas, im just one of those people, and although my current pc is decently specced, its just irritatingly noisy and hot.

My current specs are:
AMD 8320 @ stock as i wanted to run cooler and thus quieter
Corsair H100 (think i need some new fans as the ones currently on (Antec F12's NOT THE ONES ON OCUK, they are weird... The rainforest, but meh they are crap will buy bettter ones from OCUK)
Corsair Vengeance 1x8gb 1600mhz
Sapphire REFERENCE COOLER R9 290
Corsair CX750M
Xigmatek Alfar windowed case (naff, bad airflow, no radiator support, ghetto'd my H100)

The system just isn't fast enough and is irritatingly sluggish in certain areas, which really really bugs me, plus I want it too look nicer so why not ;)

Just looking for what i could upgrade, budget is MAX £500.

Cheers

Could get another stick of ram. Noctua make fantastic fans they are great performing and pretty darn quiet.

do you have a SSD?

Yeah I have 2 haha, 120gb and 250gb
I was looking at more major upgrades, like CPU and motherboard

Forgot to mention, I have already bought 16gb of DDR4 and a new case so it kind of forces me into either X99 or Z170

The noise an temperature is down to so many things in that, it's really up to you what you upgrade.

AMD as a whole tend to run Hotter than intel/Nvidia so both you CPU and GPU are adding more heat. Maybe go intel? Get an i5 or i7?

Also the reference cooler is probably not helping much but the card is good so I'd stick with that for a while.

Buying new fans for your cooler and case will work wonders for noise and temperature in some cases. The noctua fans are amazing but they are such a gross colour, not sure if they have released a new colour model yet apart from the linustechtips version.

If you dont like the case get a new one? better wc support, better airflow and better looks.

Really your two choices are a new CPU & Mobo or a new case & fans, and maybe an SSD in it if you don't have one. its honestly one of the best upgrades you can make :)

EDIT: Just seen you've got a new case and DDR4 ram; so here is your answers;

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £920.06
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Pick which ever one you'd prefer, I'd take x99 personally. Then spend the remainder on fans. :)

There have been dark noctua fans for a while now! The industrial series.

I would get a better psu while you are at it. The Corsair CX isn't the greatest thing in the world. It is better suited to low end builds.
