Hi,

I am at a loss with what to do regarding HMRC. Sent my tax return off in July and was signed for the next day, all done so I thought. Received a letter last week telling me I needed to complete a tax return. Since then I have been trying to contact them, 6 calls, but every call I make is cut off after various amounts of time on hold, 78 minutes being the last one. Anyone know what my best option is now? Currently on hold again but doubt I'll get through.

Either repeat the online submission or carry on holding, expect to speak to the rudest individuals on the planet. Your proof of delivery won't mean a thing....

Write a letter to the Chancellor asking if he could ask them to ring you. Boy George won't ever see it, of course, but one of his minions will and it will get forwarded to HMRC in BG's name.

You could be cheeky and suggest that they pay you for the time you've spent on hold too. :)
