Get a Raspberry Pi with OpenElec installed (HTPC operating system) and stream your videos from another machine, or plug a hard drive / pen drive into the Pi and stream from that.

Basically, stop using DVDs please :p

I wish DVDs and BluRay would die. Can't believe people still buy and use spinning, moving media. It's ridiculous with all the other better options.

Streaming is not always possible,What about for those old folks who live far away with no computer or bluray player.

Ok ill stop using DVDs as its xmas:p:D

That's easy - just tell them to buy a media player that can read from either memory cards or USB devices.

Hahahaha - if you're talking about my folks they can barely manage to work the DVD player you think they're going to figure out stuff like memory cards and USB devices? That goes for most older folk too.

Showed them a USB stick once and they stared at it like it was some kind of alien artifact.
