hi there,

I have installed win 10 pr today on my laptop but i'm unable to see my NAS Drive, it does not show on my network. I can put the nas address into the address bar in my Network and i can access it but it don't show. anyone know why this happens.

I have this problem too, it might be something to do with public/private network. I can't recall now how I fixed it but I'll probably go back to W10 home.
What does your network connection detail say.
Can you map a network drive using the nas name or ip address?
Andi.

Just use..

WINKEY + R
\\nas\sharename

if you want them mapped as drives in Explorer.

net use x: \\nas\sharename

I could connect to my nas with ease up until a recent windows 10 update, Id do as bledd recommends or as I did -once I connected to my nas I then used the option *pin to quick access*

had a similar problem connecting to my homeserver. Have added 1 of the photoshop folders off my homeserver to Libaries on my main PC and connects every time now.

Trying to connect via Networks shares takes 5 or 6 attempts to connect to my homeserver since the windows 10 update.

Its so anoying as i've never had this problem until my fresh install of Windows 10, Like i said i can connect via the address bar in my network and then pin to start menu. But i use Kodi media center and now can't see my nas to add the media content.

map the drive with your media content on that you want to add to Kodi to see if that works?

You need to map the NAS in Kodi then. Add it as a source smb://NAS//sharename

Right sorted that but i have another problem When i restart windows and enter the desktop i get a notification saying my mapped drive is diconnected.

Probably something trying to access it before the PC has finished starting up. Does it stay disconnected in Explorer?
Andi.

I get this below.

If i click on the mapped drive with the red x it connects straight away. I would just love to be able to disable the notification.

You can do this by not telling it to auto connect and running a script on login to map the drive, it "freshly" maps the drive every time you startup but it won't do it until later in the login process so you won't get the message.

**Alternatively, it could be your NAS is in a lower power state if not being called upon so it isn't ready when Windows logs in but once it has and has mapped the NAS, it's woken up and is ready.

It appears that your NAS is either hibernating or in low power mode as suggested. What NAS is it and how have you got it connected to your network?

Mine would do exactly the same unless you set the NAS to be constantly on. Ive set mine to power off at night and come on during the day...

I had this problem with my Synology NAS. I solved this by changing the domain name in Win 10 and on the NAS and then it showed in explorer.
