Looking for an X99 motherboard to pair with a 5820k and 16gb 2400mhz Avexir Ram and an R9 290.
My budget is around £200, but im still to buy the CPU, so motherboard and cpu combos are welcome. I see overclockers have 1. yes 1. Bundle in stock, I rang them up today and apparently they are pre put together according to whoever i spoke too and cannot be changed.......

I have looked at just X99 motherboards on OCUK, barely any in stock at all, apart from the stupidly priced ones.
Dont really know where to turn or what to get at the moment, any advice or recommendations are welcome

Cheers

Bit off topic sorry to the op. Stulid, does that board feature an oc socket. I'm currently running an older msi mpower s board. Iirc Asus introduced the oc socket, better for cache and ram oc. I fancy a change.

Yes it does have the OC socket and a dip switch to turn it ON/OFF, when ON extra voltage options are available in the BIOS.

Thinking of changing as my current board is a bit poor for cache clocking, 3000mhz memory just about works. But cache clocking is a no go above 3500mhz. CPU is pretty ok, 4.5ghz on 1.300 but cache is held back by the board. id love an R5E, but bank balance says no way.

I just think that one is overpriced to be honest...
Reviews around say the overclocking isnt as good as expected

I like my current msi, but I got it very cheap with the CPU and ram, and a 128gb m2 ssd for £400.00. I do prefer Asus boards, but that's a persona thing for me. As long as what you buy does your job, that's the main thing

Good lord where did you get that deal!?!

Private sale from a friend who is big on the UK benchmarking scene, he has represented msi at the top level on benching. Pretty obvious to see when I got the board as their was traces of vaseleine on it. A popular choice of insulation for liquid nitrogen clockers. But, I wasn't fussed about that. Kit works brilliant together.
