Just Cause 3’s WaveWorks Detailed; NVIDIA: No Other Solution Can Achieve This Realism

i cant see no waveworks option? my game still keeps crashing looks like ill have to turn my settings down a bit

Since completing JC2 at 97%, I can't wait to play this. Have asked for on PS4 though, I find its best as a lounge on the sofa console game

Like most gameworks effects twirly and ADT then :p

Apart from volumetric smoke with regards to the smoke moving when you walk through, I haven't seen a single gameworks effect that looks just as good or better than other engines and best of all, they don't kill performance despite looking better....

As said, GTA 5 waves are epic along with BF 4, crysis games.

Once again that is what happens when nvidia "sponsor" i.e. pay the company to use their effects and slap their TWIMTP title all over it :p

And going by reports on here, it sounds like another broken and under performing gameworks title, nothing to write home about in my books. Give me well optimised titles that don't have any stability issues, bugs etc. and best of all that runs well on various hardware and not gimp the other side's performance.

As for the game, it looks fun, but like just cause 2, it gets pretty boring after a few hours.

I think your missing the point. Game developers these days are of the mindset, ship first patch latter. Using Game Works in the game doesn't mean that the reason why it under performs is because of Nvidia tech.

The point is that the last 5 AAA games that have launched this month alone 4 out of 5 of them are Game Works. Thats a large percentage of the market using Nvidia tech for game development.

What this does is install to every PC gamer in every PC game that has GameWorks that Nvidia is vested in bringing the best possible experience and experienced the best on Nvidia hardware. Not surprising to see some negativity on these effects in truth but when you look at the competition, I applaud anything that attempts to make my PC gaming experience better and visually better at times.

Some of the effects are not usable on AMD either, so it really does make Nvidia seem more attractive and while there are hardcore AMD fans who will dislike anything Nvidia does, the general populace will see the efforts and happy to get the best effects possible by buying Nvidia :)

Just for fact straight, I don't dislike the effects they look good to me.. So just for Mr Gregster I not hating for the fact it's Nvidia. Fact is I just dislike the game from reviews and past games..

OK? :)

It is all very well NVidia encouraging game devs to use their technologies as long as they support one key one first -

Good quality SLI is needed at higher resolutions to run all the other NVidia tech so NVidia should ensure the game devs get SLI right first and foremost before they include anything else.

Yeah it is amazing how there isn't a lot more backlash about nvidia and SLI given that the last 4 (iirc) nvidia sponsored titles haven't supported it or not well at all :/

Except that shouldn't be their mindset... With regards to "improving" the game i.e. balancing weapons or whatever, fine but not when it comes to stability and performance issues. My point was that nvidia seem to partner up with the worst developers for this, how many nvidia sponsored games have been buggy POS on release day now? And how many of AMD's titles have run very well on release day?

I'm not saying this is nvidia' fault btw, just simply that because a game is sponsored by nvidia and has gameworks effects included doesn't mean that it is a good thing.... Battlefront, which is sponsored by AMD and has no effects by them is the best looking game ever in my books and best of all, it performs superbly for EVERYONE.

Also, since the awful launch of batman, did nvidia not say that they were going to be more careful with who they sponsor in the future and add more layers of testing or something along those lines?

As for under performing, it has been well shown even by nvidia's own guides that the performance hit for some of their tech. is massive i.e. smoke in batman, god rays in fallout 4. Gameworks effects are the first thing I and many others turn off, the slight improvement in graphics (and for a lot of the stuff, I am not that keen on them anyway) is not worth the FPS impact.

Yes but again, is it really that surprising considering the amount of money they have to essentially bribe developers/publishers to advertise their tech/brand? If AMD had anywhere as much money to spare, I am 99% sure that we would be seeing a lot more sponsored titles by them.

Like I have always said before, I rather this not happen, the only thing that GPU brands should be doing is making sure that their drivers are as good as they can possibly be, we have seen time and time again, plenty of these "gameworks" effects done better by the default game engine and with less performance hit. The only one, which really stands out above all else is hairworks/tressfx.

I wasn't aiming my post at anyone in this thread but seems to have hit a nerve with a couple, so if the cap fits....

From what I've read the SLI support for this game isn't looking good, The devs said the engine isn't compatible with multi GPU's.

No biggie really considering a 980 Ti can play this at 4K max settings and get an average of 45FPS :)

You could post AMD and people will get their choir girl feelings hurt, This generation and the few before it seem to have a lot of people whom I like to call the "I'm offended and entitled" generation.

Yep I know. Not trying to cause any arguments around here.

A thread made on here shows tomb raider has a similar performance hit.

I will enjoy jc3 just as I did jc2, With or without gameworks, With or without bugs :D

I never said it didn't :p

That is my point though with what you quoted, those hairwork effects by amd/nvidia are the only ones that are above and beyond what we have seen with other games engines, are they worth the performance hit though... probably not. Although I really did like Lara's tressfx hair but at the time with my 7850, I needed the fps so it had to go just like the witcher 3 hairworks.

Water was awesome in Black Flag but it wasn't called WaveWorks although it could have been an early iteration of it but I am just guessing. WoT has it also (I think that is the one).

If this is quite buggy, I am glad I have so much to play and when it is fixed, hopefully I will get hold of this.

Black Flag water / plants I still think they are the best!
