Well I've killed my Volvo XC60. Just seen it recovered from the river.

So need a new company car. Requirements are must be a diesel and must be a 4x4.

I take my dog everywhere so needs to be a hatchback, no saloons.

Price limit is approx 45k.

The obvious thing is replace with another xc60 but I like a change so what else should I be looking at please?

Xc90 is bigger than what I need really.

Xc60 was coming home yesterday going through flood water and river burst its banks. I bailed through window and waded to dry ground.

Just been with recovery today pulling it out. Open door and water just flooded out. Got to at least window level over night :(

VW Tiguan?
Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Land Rover Evoque?
New Land Rover Freelander Sport?
Audi Q5?
Audi Q3
Ford Kuga?
Vauxhall Mokka?
Mazda CX5?

You've got 45 grand, look at the 4wd cars available and pick the one you like. It's not as if they are going to be crap at that sort of money. Well the Volvo XC60 isn't that great but you liked that so there really is no danger of buying something you hate.

Ah, that sucks :(

Shame you think the XC90 is too big as it looks sublime. Absolutely loaded with kit as well, such as LED lights, etc.

It'd be a shame spending so much on an XC60 considering they're almost 7 years old now. The new XC60 won't be out until 2017..

As Fox said, just drive everything and see what you like. BMW X3, Merc GLC, Audi Q5 (also getting a bit long in the tooth)..

The GLC has just come out, so could be worth a look?

But £45k would also get you a 313bhp 3.0 twin-turbo X3...

For £45k he's only going to get the base model XC90 with no options. I doubt any discounts are available due to the rave reviews and it being so new. Still a sensible buy though as I bet they hold their value well just like the old XC90 did when it first came out.

I'd probably be looking at a Discovery Sport to be honest. Everyone seems to be utterly raving about them. You'll get change from your £45k too unless you go for the top end one.

Thought you usually get a repair or like for like in such a situation?

Not anymore apparently. Got told that once water has been inside they aren't even allowed to work on the car for health and safety reasons. Doesn't matter that the car would start and drive.

Hmmm just seen i can get a BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe 435d xDrive M Sport in my budget?

Always fancied a fast diesel BMW.

They look quite good from reviews so far from what I've read?

Ill have to go test drive one.
