My lad asked me to get him the components needed to build him a gaming PC so being the cheapskate I am lol. I've purchased an entire PC off Ebay for £250 rather than buy the individual components.

Hopefully the spec is ok and I haven't been sold a duffer for the price. Can you please advise what sort of games he'd be able to play on this computer e.g. would it be capable of running 3D games?

Here's the specification, is there anything you'd upgrade for his first proper gaming PC or will this specification suffice?

Antec 300 Chassis including 2 case fans
Motherboard - ASUS M5A99X EVO 2.0
Processor - AMD FX8320 3.5GB (8 CORE)
Graphics - SAPPHIRE HD 7850 over clock edition
Memory - 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE BLACK
PSU - CORSAIR CX600
Drives - CRUCIAL M4 64GB SSD (OS)
WD10 BLACK 1TB HDD
WD50 BLACK 500GB HDD
PIONEER BD-RW BDR-203D
Cooling - CORSAIR H80I WATER COOLER
Peripherals - RAZOR NOSTROMO GAMING KEYPAD
GIGABYTE G500S GAMING MOUSE
OS - WINDOWS 8
Couple of games thrown in too (Diablo and COD)

Its an old pc but i think its pretty good for the price you will have to see what the others say as i dont see cheap pcs like this that often but it seems like a solid deal to me.

Thanks guys, phew, that's a relief.. he's had his eye on a graphics card and as I understand it, I can install two cards in this machine, is it worth doing to allow him to run the games at maximum resolution? This is the card in question: ASUS Nvidia STRIX GTX 960 DC2OC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

I'll have a look for a larger SSD upgrade too

thanks again

EDIT: removed link to a competitors shops

Well done on grabbing a bargain, adding a second card complicates things further however, also you can't mention competitors and I definitely wouldn't recommend them either! ;)

You need to have matching cards, e.g. 2 x 7850's, you can't mix-match different cards and would need the power supply grunt to do so which the 600W CX wouldn't be able to do.

What screen does he have? As a 7850 will drive most games fairly well.

oops, sorry, didn't think about what not to mention, I've updated my post to remove it. He's using a HD ready TV that has the connections to hook his laptop up to at the moment. Thanks for the advise on the cards, I'll shy away from that upgrade for now then and see how he gets on with the current setup. thanks again for your help
