Why Has Britain Not Discovered the Joy of Ice?

Such a simple and cheap resource that instantly improves countless drinks, especially water, but it's virtually unused here as far as I can tell. It was a bit of shock coming here, asking for water at a restaurant and getting a very mildly chilled cup of it that quickly rises to basically room temperature. I remember thinking that must have been a one-off, but after being here a couple years, I've discovered it's the same everywhere. It's like nobody has heard of it or found out it makes drinks 10x better.

Plus the clinking noise is really satisfying.

So what gives? And how do I go about reforming this country to get the people the refreshing cold drinks they deserve?

Just look at this:

Yummy. :)

I have an ice machine in my kitchen which means i have ice in every drink i have (built into the fridge), and i get served ice everywhere i go.

Not noticing this lack of ice :p

I can't stand the amount of ice that gets put in drinks in restaurants.
Ice is only good in plain water, otherwise it just dilutes the flavour and makes everything really watery.

I specifically ask for no ice as it just dilutes everything and makes it taste crap.

Except for water. I like my water diluted with ice.

Seems like you guys should get some of these. The water is put into a separate section before freezing the glass, meaning you get the chill of the ice through your drink but it doesn't ever mix with it or dilute it.....
