Monitor/Gpu Possible failure

Am running Dell 34" curved screen powered by 2 watercooled 290 gpu's (not overclocked).

Playing a little C & C Red Alert 3 this evening when screen goes black for a second or so then comes back but now just lots of vertical (ish) lines with grainy colours (no actual picture discernible). Tried control alt del - might hasve had an effect but nothing that one could see. HD light is flashing repeatedly but no change to 'garbage' picture.

Tried re-boot but still the same.

Turned off - left for 30sec and re-started. No problems . Now running 'normal' it seems, am looking at the screen as I type this.

Thoughts as to what happened /cause?

Would mention that reliability monitor shows nothing to report and that the temp of the gpu's never exceeded 50c.

It has been stable for 6months or more!!

Would mention that straight after I bought the monitor I ran into an intermittent problem which I understand is not unusual i.e. I connect using Display port '2' and occasionally the screen would go black for a second or so before continuing as if nothing had happened.

Was advised that it was a problem that could simply be solved by stopping to use '2' and using '1.1' instead but as the problem appeared to have ceased I have stuck with '2'

I hope that I having provided the correct numbers - if not - my apologies.AND as I am myself thinking now that this is probably a monitor issue can this be moved to the monitor section?

I had a similar issue when I had my 290 and had to use RadeonPro to stop the core clocks from fluctuating as I would have this exact issue. Maybe not the same but worth a shot before stripping your loop to remove a "faulty" card.

Def. do NOT want to have to strip the loop but if it has to be done then so be it.

I assume that you 'fixed' the core and memory speed to the standard (on my cards standard is 947/5000) rather than allowing them to fluctuate? Would mention that my cards do not have boost.

Have decided to see what happens and that if it does occur again will turn the monitor off , leave for a few seconds before re-starting such to see if the problem has gone (assuming that if it has it is in fact a monitor problem - am on 3 yr Dell warranty so swapping out might not be such a pain!!)
