Which 970

I've never used them myself. I've used Gigabyte for a mobo and that took almost 4 weeks. I think Gregster RMA'd a card and it was around 6 weeks I think. Last time I heard the RMA went back to czech republic but that could have changed.

quick look online and I see a lot of 2014 posts about bad RMA service. Maybe OCUK can tell you a little more on the return rate of the cards and a better example of turn around time etc.
 
The g1 will run higher than the quoted clocks, mine runs 1418 at stock, they use 1.21v at stock. The ssc rev2 is a good card, but the g1 has a stronger power delivery and a better cooler out of the two, the g1 should clock slightly higher with better thermals.
 
1380MHz@stock on my ssc rev2, not convinced any particular 970 variant is guaranteed to clock higher than the other, they all hit decent clocks.

It's the active Evga rep presence in here that was the deal breaker, don't know how many times they have stepped in and sorted grievances usually with the customer walking away happy as.
