Hi all, quick question being as this has now gone live was going to upgrade my sub to this but noticed I have to set up Google family which lets my card details make purchases across all the family devices that are associated with the family bit (Or am I reading this part wrong on the initial upgrading of the sub?).
Now this wouldn't be a problem but am planning on adding my three teenage kids to this and I know how they are button mash happy and am a bit concerned about how to stop this happening and making random purchases (Do trust them but I know how they also press random stuff on screen etc so can see it happening at some point).
Any ideas or am I stuck with letting them have access to the card linked to my Google account in order to use the family plan for Google Music?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but you aren't alone in reading that part.

I was reading a comment on an article talking about it, seems that is the way it's set up, sounds daft to me!

I've just upgraded and thought the same as you. My account is set to ask for my password on every purchase so they won't be able to buy anything.

Edit

Can confirm it asks for my password on my daughters phone. She'll never get her hands on that so all is safe and well :)

Ah ok thats better then, the way it reads on one of the screens is theres no way you can do that although to be honest the wording on one of the pages is terrible at explaining it, it read to me that once my payment was shared with the family any of them could authorise it with there own password, if it asks for mine thats all well and good. Cheers for that.
Saves me linking a prepaid card with no balance on it or some other work around I had planned.

I'm currently on a free trial of the individual service. How do I actually subscribe to the family plan, I've cancel (although it wont end until the 26th) but only see the same individual sign up? Thanks.

Go to play music, Settings, press refresh & see if family options appear above it.

Ta for the scouting I'll get this for my family too.

so....

Google Play at £14.99 shared with six people

or

Spotify at £9.99 shared with four people

Does GPM support car Bluetooth?

Spotify only 9.99 for the first 3 months?

I see track names and both Spotify and Google music while playing on my car via Bluetooth

Are Google going to introduce the family feature for everyone so we can all get the play store goodness for a family, or is this mainly just a music subscription thing only?

I want to use this to make my music library available to the Mrs, and also any apps I have purchased, but I don't want to have to subscribe to All Access.

I'd be quite surprised if they opened it up so apps I buy can be used on someone else's account. Is this something Apple do?

I wouldn't expect Steam to let me give my brother a game that I bought for us both to play. Is there a reason to think Google would start giving away software?

The thing is though, haven't they already opened it up to apps? Its just you have to have a family music plan subscription to get the feature.

Have they?! Am I the only one thinking that's pretty huge if they have? Do you have a link to any articles giving detail? I have a second account would be great if I can share my paid apps over to.

Not yet, But from tear downs they are bringing it eventually.

Mentioned in that article.

You can kinda do that on steam already, My friends share games between themselves. Just means one has to be offline or not playing a game.
