Zotac 980ti extreme Amp beats MSI Golden 980ti, YOUR SCORE?

I'm with Kaap in sentiment. I see LN2 as a tragic waste of time too, given you can't use the rig daily.

But, and it's a big one, I do see why they do it. So to that ends it's a hobby and it would be immensely hypocritical for any one who even reads these forums, let alone post in them, to not understand a hobby.

After hanging out with some of the guys that do it I can see why they do it. I guess if you had all of the right gear it's hella fun. Not only that but they also buy much older hardware and go back breaking older records. Which, unless you're trying to find cards like the 480 Lightning, could also be quite cheap to do.

Yer, LN2 isn't for 24/7 day to day stuff and it is purely for sport/hobby/records/fun? Having set-up for LN2 cooling, doing LN2 cooling and watching the pro's do LN2 cooling, I certainly have a lot more respect for it. I bet if I was to say to 8 Pack that his scores are useless, he would want to knock me out lol but truth is, what he and the many others who do it, do it because they enjoy it, so whilst LN2 scores might be useless to some, they certainly are not for others.

Well, that is my last say in this thread. I wasn't out to upset anyone.

Ln2, if that's what floats your boat then fair play, it must be quite a destructive game.

I am also very concerned about members of the Midlife Gamers website and I think the moderators should look into it. It seems that if you get into a debate with a member of MLG website, all their fellow members gang up on you. This is the OcUK website and people should remember that.

Was under the impression you join MLG to get fast tracked onto the mod team in here.;):p:D

I always thought a PC was to be used for it's intended purpose.

IE - Whatever you want to use it for :D

I thought it was so we didn't have to look at staples anymore.:D

Unless I am going mad, Each PCI-E slot is 20mm apart. Therefore the SLI fingers would surely be apart by multiple's of 20mm so not sure how you got 89/90mm. Looking at the Manual here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5281#manual PCIE Slot 1 and PCIE Slot 2 are 80mm apart. Therefore something like the 3 Way EVGA SLI or ASUS ROG hard bridges would work fine. (As I say, unless I have totally lost the plot)

your right, i koked up on my measurements as I included the sli bridge borders, 1st and 5th slot is 81mm, to be exact.

I thibk the bridges you included in the link, evga and asus ones, I think the evga one works with all SLI cards but you wont get the fancy led lighting as u need a evga card for that...

The Asus ROG bridge only works with Asus cards, now after spending more than 2 hours online looking for a 81mm 2 way long SLI bridge I found them on the actual Nvidia site, I was very happy until I they only sell the official Nvidia bridges to customers in the USA, so lame...

^^ this is what I was after but cannot purchase in the UK, Overclockers should by some in bulk and sell them on their site.....

Fairly certain the LED's and SLi bridges in general are generic and will work fine on any card as its the GeForce experience software that manages the LED. For myself at least the EVGA bridge worked fine when I paired a Zotac and EVGA SC Titan X and now with 2 SC EVGA Titan X's no difference. My brother also used to run a pair of 980Ti's G1 gaming and used the EVGA bridge no issue. I imagine the ROG one would be the same.

I have missed nothing.

LN2 is a total waste of time for 24/7 usage.

I am also concerned about posts like yours below where someone is just having a bit of fun.

Don't try and play the victim Kaap ;)

You always air whatever you think without regard to how it makes others feel so logically why aren't others allowed to do the same ?

No one said LN2 is meant for 24/7 use but saying it's pointless is just ignorant as it's a hobby for a lot of people.

Also I wasn't being mean to the OP I was just telling the truth, Hell my CPU and GPU overclocks are extremely average and nothing special.

Allow me to remind you what you posted in the first place. This was uncalled for as the OP was not shouting about anything.

Your scores aren't anything to shout about, Seem extremely average, I got 9300 on FSE with 1 x 980 Ti.

I don't make a habit of upsetting anyone and I am not rude to them either.

And yes LN2 for practical uses is pointless, if you think different perhaps you could suggest a good use for it apart from extreme benching.

mate what slots are you running your titans on? same with your bro, not on 1st and 5th slot by any chance?

I have a 4790k so run it on a z97 platform so like most with SLI mine is in PCI-E slot 1 and PCI-E slot 2 which means there is a single space between the 2 layer Titan X, so 60mm between the SLI fingers.

My Brother's system was x99 / 5820k on the RVE, and used to run his SLI system in The first slot and forth slot if I recall correctly, But there was no second slot on the rampage so it really works out to be slot 5. Essentially his was 80mm apart on the SLI fingers. Similar layout to how yours would be in terms of spacing.

oh, ive got the same as your brother then, x99 1st and 5th, so it seems its 80mm for the x99 boards and 60mm for Z97s...

then i think ur bro is using the 3 way bridge, so basically on that particular bridge he is using the 1st and last connections on the bridge leaving out the middle connection?

Yep. He used to use the 3 way evga sli bridge and the middle slot was left empty.

Kapp MLG has nothing to do with this at all.

Why drag them in?

I agree with Whyscotty. Every end user has there own differing uses for the PC. If it happens to be LN2 benching then fine. Whats useless to you Kapp is not useless to others.

Formula one cars are also useless for 24/7 driving!!
