Winter is here.. Heating bills go up... What do you do?

I've taken all the fuses out of our electric panel heaters... just use the heat from the neighbours above / below and either side :D

I've constructed a diy smart boiler controller with a raspberry pi. I've not finished the temperature sensor yet but when I do the intention is to keep the house above 10 degrees at all times and 18 when we're in the house during the day.

I can also use Google now voice commands to turn on the hot water and heating from anywhere in the world. Even my wife thought that was cool.

Fridges give off heat, so turning it off will help him stay cold.

Then I can use my whole house as the fridge, sounds like a plan :D

Gas + elec bill is normally £40 over the summer, from my meter read today this monthly bill will be £66.66 so that's not too bad.

Plus the PC heats this little room up nicely so we have somewhere warm to sit ;)

Would reccommend signing up to Money Saving Expert Energy Club. Easily compare your electric and gas price, then pick who to move to and save money.

I've been with the same supplier for years but have recently looked at all outgoings with an aim to reducing them. I'll save approx £25 pcm. Which isn't a lot until you add it up over a year.

I never used to have the heating on unless it was Baltic cold. Now the misses lives with me it's on A LOT and my energy bills have doubled!
