I don't think Aldo respected McGregors stand up enough, he waded in with no guard like he thought he'd receive a pat on the cheek at best.

I think Conors mouth got to Aldo though, I don't think we'd see Aldo so reckless against someone like Mendes.

While I expected the fight to be over pretty quickly, I never thought it would be over that fast, also makes me wonder how Aldo kept his title for so long. Was everyone else really that bad or is Conor just in a different league entirely.

Really can't come to any conclusion with a fight like that. Rematch for me but it doesn't look likely.

How do they cut weight so fast? Do they just starve themselves until the weigh in and then pig out up until the fight?

They lose weight naturally until they are about 8-10 pounds from the weight limit then dehydrate to lose the rest. If it's not done correctly they could die, extreme dehydration is really bad for your organs.

The fighters would then use IV bags to rehydrate, however the UFC banned IV bags over the summer so fighters can only rehydrate by drinking water orally. From what I've read, it will stop fighters cutting 20 pounds for the weigh-ins then putting it all back on for fight night.

I thought both Aldo and Weidman looked noticeably smaller than they have in previous fights (before the IV ban).

Got to be a rematch, cant call that a fight imo

For me though, that makes an implication that Conor got lucky. I don't think that's the case, Aldo was stupid going forward with so little defence and got punished extremely quickly for it. Just because it happened so quickly shouldn't make a difference.

so do you think a single punch shows who the better fighter is?

Yes, it shows Aldo turned up with no respect for who or what was stood in front of him, went in hot with no regard for his own defence and got tagged by a guy known for knockout power.

If you're going to turn up and fight like that, then yes, I think a one punch KO tells a great deal about the quality of the two men who turned up last night.

That should not happen to the P4P best in the world but it did and it was far from a random lucky shot.

Well said. Also looked like Aldo knew the grim reaper was coming for him last night before the fight started.

When you can't even look your opponent in the eyes it just smells of fear from Aldo.

Mcgregor did exactly what he said he would do. Knew he would over commit in the first round with his right and would give him his trademark left to knock him out.

its normal for him to keep his face down before the fight but i do agree he certainly looked scared

Ye keeping your head down is fine but to not even look your opponent in the eyes once is very strange I must say.

When he was hugging his camp I literally thought it looked like he was going to his own funeral and he knew it.

His demeanour imo was just way off and Conor looked so confident and was like a man on a mission to kill Aldo when I seen him waiting in the octagon for Aldo to step in.

A rematch makes some sense the division has been beat by both guys the #3 guy chad got beat by both and the rest of the division is not on the same lvl yet id like to see a second fight in Ireland

yea thats what i saw too, an extremely confident Conner Mcgregor relishing the moment who couldn't wait to beat the crap out of his opponent and on the other side there was Aldo, who looked like he was about to cry.
