Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 17th December 2015]

What an awful week of football. Only taking a point from games against Newcastle and West Brom after beating Chelsea, City and Southampton is like Rachel Riley bending over and spreading her butt cheeks and getting turned down after you've banged the winner of Miss HIV Positive 2015 the week before

Tony Pulis' sides are infuriating to play against. They don't miss a trick, from countless niggly fouls to constant timewasting - literally every set-play they'd kick the ball away and then take near enough a minute to take the free-kick/throw etc.

The ref was ****ing horrendous too. We should have had 2 pens in 1 when first the WBA player handled to try to stop the ball going by him and then when that didn't work, body-checked Benteke to stop him going past. Then the challenge on Lovren. To not not even give a free-kick for that then you can only assume he had his eyes closed and there will be a retrospective ban for Gardner. Horrible challenge and that's probably Lovren out for 9 months.

Despite all that we were worryingly short in attack again. We started the game pretty well and the movement of Henderson, Milner, Coutinho and Lallana behind Benteke looked promising. Then everything tailed off. We looked toothless and clueless in attack, Mignolet was up to his old tricks and we were too easy to break on too.

Well that was unexpected, 2 wins we really were not expecting to get, Villa at home next so no doubt instead of capitalising we will fold like wet toilet paper! :p

Some absolute *******s from Shearer on MOTD2 saying this wasn't a red card:

He launches himself into the challenge, is off the ground and makes full contact with Lovren's knee. If that's not a red card then nothing is. The way Lovren's holding the back of his knee makes me think he's done his ACL.

It was good of Pulis to send his best wishes to Lovren rather than try to deflect the attention from Gardner with some bs though.

I'm really 50/50 with this, sure the injury doesn't help, but Gardner didn't show any malice in that tackle, he wanted that ball just as much as Lovren, its just a shame he got injured...

Btw I'm a Liverpool supporter.

Have to agree, don't think its a red. Lovren has no pain threshold so his overreaction doesn't help either.

We probably will but I doubt we'd celebrate a home draw v WBA like that, unless it's to stay up at the end of the season of course.

Showing malice is irrelevant, it's whether the challenge was dangerous and used excessive force. He's left the ground and gone in studs first, knee high and makes full contact with Lovren. As soon as a player leaves the ground and is lunging into a challenge it's dangerous because they're entire body weight is going into the tackle.

Only you could blame Lovren for getting injured by a bad tackle.
Why were Liverpool celebrating a home draw against WBA?
That was proper cringey stuff.

He was thanking the supporters, not celebrating.
