I'm thinking of doing a custom loop in my case but due to space restriction i have to get creative . I want it to be a hardline loop which is symmetrical, problem is I'm having trouble with where i would position my res/pump.

In short is it ok for the inlet on the res to be higher than the out on the radiator?

example of how i want it

Also, what are opinions on the res lying on its side? I'm guessing this would be a general bad idea?

It will be fine, its a sealed loop once its full so the position of the res actually has little effect. However positioning can make filling a loop a little easier however my res is about 3 inches higher than my bottom rad. once everything is full of water it will work fine regardless of positions.

whats your opinion on something like this?

Can't help but think there would be an issue with the flow going in and out of the res or is there something in the res that stops this?

P.s not done a custom loop in a long time so sorry for being slow

If you have the inlet for the res at the top make sure you have an internal tube to prevent the trickling sound of tiny air bubbles due to the turbulent water.

My advice is get the EK Res X3 with the multiport top and inlet tube accessories, otherwise the sound will probably annoy the hell out of you :p
