AMD AIBs Prepare Cost Effective Radeon R9 390 Models With 4 GB Memory

Lol look at your core and memory speeds mate.

120hz 135/405
144hz 912/3505

That is some jump in GPU core and memory...even your temps and Voltage is higher.

Why is that funny? I run desktop at 120Hz and it runs low. My 3D clocks are 1330Mhz and not 900Mhz as seen in the first pic. If setting 120Hz on the desktop is hard, people shouldn't have PCs!

Fed up of the baiting!

Baiting? get a grip man having a discussion here... Clearly I pointed out the problem to you, I find it funny that setting 144hz increases GPU power by a lot, that speed is very close to my 290 in 3D mode. I found it funny!

And if you buy a 144hz monitor then I expect to run it in 144hz mode all the time. Yeah sure I agree PCs are great we get to choose man I can run 60hz if I wanted to, but that is far from the point is it? I buy 144hz you expect to use it..

Here hoping its a fast driver update for you guys am sure nvidia and there excellent driver support it wont be long.

No baiting Greg!

It had been pretty good around here but seems some get bored and like to stir the ****! It isn't a problem at all as I showed you and Dave and it is 400Mhz+ away from my 3D clocks.

I have said my piece and will leave it at that.

No, because unlike what you originally said it didn't drop from £1000 to £500. Keep digging a hole mate, your baiting is obvious.

I admit I got the pricing mixed up with USA $1000 but even still like I just said.
£800-900 to a 980ti two months later £550 its still around 400/300 pounds all that for same performance.
Am not baiting, I know thats what you want to believe. Am just pointing the facts out there even if I got them wrong at the start.:D

Shanks serious question, do you consider the 390 and the 390X the same card, or the 380 and 380x the same card?

If you do than I can understand why you keep confusing the Titanx with the 980Ti.
If you don't, then just stop, they are different cards, not rebrands.

Fixed that for you humbug.

If you, like others are going to keep banging the 3.5GB drum, even though you have the card yourself and have said that the two speed memory is not an issue. Lets just make sure we remind everybody at every opportunity that AMD have failings as well.

Isn't this exactly what nvidia did with 600-700 series? Just released and gave a slight boost to the next models? And what they both do most of the time.

And maxwell was suppose to be a die shrink but that failed. I consider that a bigger fail IMO. I'm not biased. I own and use a 970.

Nope
The 390 is a rebrand from a 290, 390x = 290x - 380 was the 280 and then 380x was 280x

The 980i is a cut-down version from the TitanX same Core lineup. = Rebrand

That makes no sense, if it is a different core configuration it is not a rebrand, or not?

So you consider the 970 a rebrand of the 980 then?

You seems to understand the AMD line up but not the NVidia one, unless you are just trolling bigtime.

You are not getting what he is saying if I am correct.

He means the titanx was released at x amount then a few weeks later the 989ti (almost a rebranded titanx just a few things less) is released at near half the price of titanx.

An overclocked and better cooled 290. Look a little further down the article and they've got benches between the stock 290 (947 on core, 1250 on memory) and stock 4GB 390 (1000 on core, 1500 on memory) and the new one is 7%-12% better, which is nice. It also states the 390 will run cooler and use less power, but doesn't back these up with figures.

So, yeah - pretty much a tweaked and improved 290 at a lower cost, which sounds good to me while we wait for actual new products. :)

Use less power! Didn't they use that old chestnut for Grenada's release? And didn't it turned out power consumption at load was the same or higher.

It was more like a few months later not a few weeks, and everyone knew a cut down version was coming anyway.

I knew exactly the point he was trying to make, but he just made some figures up off the top of his head to try and exaggerate it then added some "feel sorry for them" garbage.

From his posts above that Bru has pointed out he's either trolling or doesn't have a clue what a rebrand is.

Seems like a great choice for 1080p/1440p and even 4k with a few settings turned down in some AAA+ games.

Performance should actually be slightly above the 390 8gb with only half the memory to map also, where games aren't needing over 4gb. I remember back in the 9800pro days 128mb vs 256mb we saw this, only a few FPS but would be interesting to see what that difference is like on a modern high end GPU, I'm sure someone will do a full on comparison between the 4 and 8gb models as nothing else is happening at the moment.

Seemed to be the case, maybe he was bored...

I pointed out I made a mistake with pricing and time to market. I thought it was two weeks but then I had to google it and found out it was two months..
My point still stands the gab between them was far to close, They pretty much just killed there own top tier line up.

I understand what a rebrand i. 970 is a rebrand from 670 etc 980ti is a rebrand from 780ti but my point again is the fact 980ti is so close to a titanX it is a cutdown version of this GPU making it also a rebrand of a TitanX..
