Brother in Law - serious injury at work

Sorry to hear your circumstances, I'm a staff nurse working in a Neuro/Trauma intensive care in Newcastle and I see people with injuries like this every day (and night) unfortunately it really is time that can make a difference as hard as it is for the families etc. They will be giving him sedation/paralysis and possibly cooling him to bring the ICP pressure down, there's a whole host of surgical interventions they can do and from what I've dealt with they will do whatever they can.

Just try and keep positive - it will be a very long process but try and take each day as it comes, things like this can change on an hourly basis so try not to think too far ahead and good luck!

Sorry to ask but curiosity got to me. How on earth could such a thing happen? :(

Well today we have found out HSE have been involved and the company he works for has closed down as a result of this.

We have also found out today that their is an criminal investigation going on because they believe it was not an accident now, he gave a member of staff a written warning on the morning of the incident, and then shortly after the accident occured and it involved the staff member who gave the warning too, this staff member was driving the forklift truck that caused the accident.

That's terrible.

Sad news :( hopefully he recovers fully.

Criminal investigation, not what you need right now I can imagine.

Jesus Ace, sounds horrific.

Hope he recovers well and if someone is guilty of foul play they get what the book thrown at them.

Sorry to hear this. Awful news especially at this time of year and with a young family. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

Having worked in ITU at the QE for a short period I can say he's in great hands and they'll give him the best possible chance.

Bloody hell. So the forklift driver could be looking at attempted murder for his callous actions?

Sending positive vibes to you and your families for your BIL's speedy recovery, hope you get some signs of improvement soon. Try to enjoy Christmas as best you can, and hope the kids have as good a Christmas as possible. I'm sure you'll all be doing what you can to make it great for them.
