Based on the Arthur C. Clarke novel of the same name, it's six episodes over three nights.

Written by Arthur C. Clarke and hailed as a revolutionary work of science fiction since its publishing in 1953, Childhood's End follows the peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious "Overlords", whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.

The book is one of my favourite of Clarke's, so I really hope they do this justice and don't screw it up

Just finished last night's and really liked it, they could have made his appearance less obvious in the lead up though.

Wow a lot of potential. Great to see a tv show hit off from the word go!!

Was a bit concerned to see Barbie (from the dome) but he was quite good and carried it pretty well. ShowS he was wasted in the other show.

Can't wait for the next ;)

I didn't like it, I LOVED IT.

Is he supposed to be the Devil? Hoofed feet, horns, wings etc.

I haven't read the source but I'm taking it that he just happens to look that way and it's why he was concerned that humans weren't ready to see him.

It was pretty obvious he was going to look like that from half way through the episode though, they could have been more subtle.

It just seems odd that it's exactly how Lucifer would look

The reason for the Overlord's reluctance to reveal their demonic form to the human race straight away is explained in the final pages of the book, and will probably be explained in the final episode of the series.

Really, you actually wanted to know?

Nicely put together first episode, nothing really rushed or overdone and awesome ending, it needed that ending to make sure everyone watched part II !

Syfy Channel need more of this, actually got expanse to get thru

I absolutely loved this!

mankinds crowning achievement cookie dough ice cream :D.

Why if she's drawing all the energy from the planet does it explode?

Ending was a bit meh. I expected more unless in my tired state missed a chunk

Think I'll buy the book. Hadn't heard about it until this.

Edit: and yes malovence if you could post the reason I'd love to know :D.

Oh my word what on earth happened. Started off so well and then went **** from there.

It is like the film knowing where aliens would have been better and look how badly that ended, it really fell apart literally. Really disappointing

Drawn out way too long to tell so little. wt...............:confused::confused:

is two episodes per night for the next three nights. :)
