Is it just me or is the price difference to performance disproportionate on these cards ?? About 30% price for 10% performance!! I am trying to justify a 390x but £80+ between them just seems too much?

Whilst im not an AMD owner, the general concensus ive found from those who do own/reccomend AMD cards, is that the 390x isnt worth it over the 390.

The 390x exists mostly for marketing purposes. Value-wise, clearly not a good deal, though much better than Fury or 980. If you have the self-control I'd buy the 390 and then put the extra pounds away until next gen, sell the 390 and add the remainder for a new one.

My last three cards have been AMD and I also think that £80+ is way too much for the extra 3-5fps you get on average or there abouts.

Go 390 IMHO
:)

390, overclock core to 1100mhz and you wont know no difference, just not worth the extra money.

Just a quick question having never overclocked a Red card, What setting do you use on MSI ? thinking of overclocking the MRS 390 what do i do with volts etc ? always overclocked team green in the past.

Use msi Afterburner.

First thing put a +50 power limit on.

Just keep upping the clock core 20mhz a time then run a 3D bench of something ie heaven, Valley or firestrike. Watch for artifacts, black screens and errors then add a little more core voltage when that happens. Retest again and repeat the process, try to keep temps under 75c and you'll be golden. You'll prob be able to hit 1100mhz on core with no to very little voltage increase.

Yes but as previously said the gains are not worth the money

That seems the general consensus here. but for me, personally, I would say it is.

I have a 390x and even I would say it not worth it for most people. 390s are just unbeatable in terms of value at the minute and all brands seem to be good so its just a case of grabbing the cheapest or preferred brand. I would say £290 for the MSI 390 is a little steep though, as its the same price I purchased a 390x (admittedly not as good brand name).
