So I am buying into the skylake generation of chips on the 18th, time for a desktop refresh and using the old i7 870 in a server setup.

Looking at DDR4 ram there is so much choice but from what I am looking at for my purpose it will be pointless in getting anything over 2400mhz.

It will be mainly used for gaming, with maybe a VM running occasionally, with some 3d rendering done once in a blue moon (when I get the time!)

What is the opinion of this RAM? I am finding it hard to find reviews of this product :

£68.99 for the 16GB sounds too good to be true! I paid more for 16GB 1800mhz DDR3!

What would people suggest I put into a i5 6600k, GTX 970 build?

DDR4 prices atm are very low. Win win for everyone buying :)

I have i5 6600k and have paired it with some Corsair 2400mhz vengeance LPX seems to run pretty good, only got 8gb for now, going to add another 8gb when i get chance.

I bought those Avexir 2x8GB red sticks at the weekend to go with an MSI z170 gaming Pro/6600k bundle, when it was reduced to ~£68 (until I saw it, I was going to buy 2x4GB sticks for ~£45).

The system is a massive upgrade for my better half, from an old Opteron 165 system from 2005, but it is only partially assembled at the moment so I cannot comment on how the memory performs.

I got 2x4gb in red for £37

When I was looking 2x4GB sticks up to ~£45, I was not looking at any make/model of DDR4 in particular, just looking at what was at that budget.

When I saw the 2x8GB Avexir offer of ~£68, I decided to splash out an extra 20-odd squids above my original budget, for twice the memory total.
