Is BMW 6 Series A Reasonable Consideration For A Next Car?

Re reading my post seems a bit unhelpful but sometimes i'm amazed at peoples attitude to money and cars, £18k is a lot of cash to be spending whether it's yours or someone else's.

The 325 point above is a good one, I went to look at a touring at the weekend with 120k, BMW history, idrive, xenon's and auto - £7k and was still a very nice feeling car. Other than the improved idrive software an £8k coupe will feel much the same to someone not that fussed about the car as a £15k one

OP, you need to realise and do some research in to what is current generation and what is old.

E63 was released in 2003 (my dad had one). It does look a bit ugly.

It was Facelifted in 2007 but that's still very old tech in a car. It finally got the CIC idrive in 2009 which is the only E63 you would want, but even that is getting on a bit and the chassis is still at least 12 years old.

The newer, nicer looking one is the F13 model released in 2012 but is probably out of your price range.

Both of them. To be fair, I personally find the 6 series to be fugly anyway.

Not quite. The weirdest is surely the "how much is acceptable to pay for a PCP?" with absolutely no other details involved. That is the weirdest.

Mr mirror pack was weirder

Yeah I don't really like the 3 series TBH. Looking back at that 19k 328i I most certainly wouldn't buy it - but rather save and get a 428i.

With the Audi A5s it's the same... like the new shape not the old shape and they are over 18k. Still prefer the F13 though.

I just through those 3s out there because someone recommended.

Very good point. I found that out many years ago to my cost. :D
Indeed. Look at the 7 series that are a year or two old - and rather fabulous IMO. £70k cars you can pick up for £30k because they fall in value like a brick thrown off a cliff. But £70K car servicing, brakes and other running costs. And if something should go seriously wrong???? As much as I'd love a 740D, I think I will leave well alone for these reasons. They are not cars for people of my modest means.

Contrast that with 5 series that hold their value very well.

I bought a 630i convertible around a year ago, best car I've owned. Mine is a 2008 face lift and cost £11.5k with 86k miles on the clock. Now approaching 100k and has only cost me a track rod end + tracking (£300ish) plus 1 service (£300) and a pair of rear tyres (£360). Averaging around 27MPG but can get 35MPG on a run if I take my time.

I wouldn't want to spend much more than I did, £18k is silly money IMO for an E63. I'll probably go for the newer model when they reach ~£15k

Similar to the Porsche Panamera - if you can get over the looks then you get a lot of car.

Panamera 4.8 V8 4S
New : £83k+ expensive options.
Used 2013 model with lots of options : £36k
