Now my son spends more time on my Steam account than I do I've decided its time to build him a PC of his own
Will be our first build together so hopefully he will enjoy it and become a fellow overclocker!
Got some older parts hanging around and wondered if it was worth sourcing parts or just go for a newer cpu/board bundle deal from OCUK.
I have an X58 Asus Sabertooth board in the cupboard, I notice OCUK dont sell socket 1366 cpus anymore so would need to buy elsewhere but you can find these at around the £99 for an i7-920 up to £150 for a 950. Its either do this or buy something like https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...-4690k-bundle-14-pounds-saving-bu-014-as.html
I've already got the memory lying around plus an old SSD to get him up and running with.
Was looking at cheaper graphics cards but dont want it to be a false economy by sticking a lower spec card in and needing to upgrade pretty quickly as this will be primarily for games. So been looking at 970s - will the X58 motherboard bottleneck this in anyway or will it work ok?
