Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 21st December 2015]

Firstly, fair play to Norwich.

But really, where does this leave LvG?

Has he lost the players? At least some of them.

Are there signs of improvement? No. We get worse every week.

Has he had a fair crack at the job? One entire season where he met his minimum goal, and £250m odd spent (yes we got some back, but it's still loads). In that first season he should have identified the weak points and planned ahead for this season. We've got significantly worse.

Obvious replacement available? Ancelotti and Mourinho both currently unemployed (former is going to Bayern, though, it seems).

I'd be very surprised if he's sacked though, I genuinely can't see Woodward doing it.

Damn, nice hit from Palace player to put them back in the lead with a couple minutes to go. Bournemouth as well taking the lead back without long to go.

Norwich are ridiculous, lost to Chelsea who were crap but draws with Arsenal and Everton, and quite likely beating Utd.

utd are crap though! not that surprising norwich beat them!!

Not permanently yet but I see no harm in letting him caretake until we get a new manager. If he does a good job then he could be in the running.

I think it's too risky, but I agree it'd be better than sticking with LvG.

He'd have to go elsewhere afterwards to prove himself unless he did an amazing job, but if it was a disaster then it could damage his chances in future.

Starting to genuinely believe Martial is a robot.

Damn, that slow mo, where he has the chance to shoot and probably blast it into the defender but instead just drags it around him before shooting. That is something you'd see a great experienced striker doing, no panic, absolutely the right call, brilliant.

He really does have some brilliance about him at times.

Rondon should get more than just one red card there. He loses the ball, pretty much throws an elbow into Gosling I think it was, then when Gosling has a go at him he goes at him, leans his head in hard, kicks out at him then attempts to give him a proper full heatbutt again. That is Joey Barton level madness, that is the kind of thing they should review and give him more than a 3 game ban IMHO.

I would say that's a 'pepe homage':(

Leicester top
Palace level on points for a CL spot
Watford up in 7th
Chelsea 14th
Villa already relegated

What a bonkers season. I actually like this.

I love in Leicester these days but I'm from near Norwich originally. It's fair to say I'm pretty chuffed at today's results. Everyone is still writing a Leicester's chances off but they keep playing like this while the big teams flounder and anything's possible. Norwich badly needed this win but I'm seriously concerned about our ability to stay up this season. The biggest thing in our favour is how badly teams like Aston Villa are playing.

To top it off, ZDF Sport in Germany says Guardiola to Citeh is done, with Ancelotti replacing him at Bayern...

Guardiola at City will be interesting, the central midfield just isn't as disciplined or the kind of quality that Barca/Bayern had, like, not even comparable in quality. Yaya didn't have a lot of energy in his best days at Barca and had top defenders around him, he's a different and worse player today(defensively speaking).

His style of football is high effort, well disciplined everyone doing exactly the job he wants football. I mean you never know, Fernad/o/inho might thrive with someone telling them exactly what to do, but more likely will struggle to be disciplined enough. The CB's also seem tactically a bit incapable. It's certainly a squad that is by a pretty huge margin no where near as good as the two teams he's managed so far.

Who he'd buy would be important, again you suspect he'll be trying to buy his Busquets/Alonso type player in from somewhere to shore up central mid and a better on the ball CB. Potential issues with the way he trains, how hard he works players and how he's rushed several players back in repeatedly. Could that be a big problem with Aguero/Kompany.

Him at City will be interesting and a far biggest test than he's had so far.

Certainly appears they've been the frontrunners all along.

The league is a mess at the moment, but could be very tight over the next few seasons if Spurs continue to improve, Liverpool improve with Klopp, and we get a better manager and better players where required, same for Chelsea, etc.
