Hi all,

I'm in the hunt for a new graphics card, something with decent performance but won't break the bank at the same time. I've been looking at the MSI GTX 970 to go with my spec in sig. I'm mainly looking to play the following games: Battlefront, Dirt Rally, Project Cars, Rainbow Six Siege. What sort of performance can I expect and what sort of settings? I game at 1080p and will be for the foreseeable. I do want to try and max these games out if possible.

Any advice would be great. :)

That card should be fine for all of those games, it's a solid GPU although I went for the 980 my brother has a 970 and has no problems at all.

I would probably go for the R9 390

I am looking for the same kind of upgrade although I want to be able to switch to 1440p in the future .... I think the 390 is a little bit more future proof

The Mrs has kinda thrown a spanner in the works and said I could get a 980ti for future proof needs and incase I decide to jump to 1440 or 4K. Just not sure what to do really! I assume the 980ti would b complete overkill at 1080p? I don't fancy AMD due to previous issues.

It would be complete overkill at 1080p ..... But if you got the funds and approval :p ..... I would say go for it fast

Just use DSR. Voila, higher res gaming.

Search engine 'Nvidia dynamic super resolution' in short it allows you to run much higher resolutions than your monitor can handle, then compresses them so they fit.

It's tremendously clever.
