What a great idea Samsung Safety Truck !

Not to mention people tend to get a little bit cranky about heavy trucks running up and down what are often residential roads too much at night.

One place I was working had this big plan for moving deliveries to night time with one depot on a 5am slot (which was causing considerable issues staff wise as most of them were on day contracts) and had completely overlooked the fact that depot was adjacent to and only accessible through a housing estate where time of day limitations were in force for heavy goods vehicles.

Ended up costing them a considerable amount as the plan was 90% in place before anyone realised and by that time they'd lost a lot of good staff (who'd have gone anyhow if they'd been forced to nights).

That sounds sadly familiar, management etc have great plans for something that isn't going to work without massive disruption to the staff and business, and then just before they start to implement it (or even after) they realise that it's not possible for reasons outside of their influence or control.

It sounds almost like a politicians idea for dealing with anything to do with the internet "yeah i'll talk to Billy Gates about stopping them using it" or "we'll log all the data, it'll only cost a few million a year".

^^ I think there is potential as well for people to gauge whether they can overtake or not based on what they could see in that image - without necessarily having all the information the lorry driver does - causing accidents.

Great idea until the trailer is backed into a loading dock a bit too hard and the undoubtedly expensive screen is trashed.

Trailer doors are lightweight and relatively cheap for a reason....

It would be easier to just force HGV to drive at night only. Far less of an issue for everyone then.

Because at the moment at night you don't see a single HGV on the roads?

You clearly have no clue as to how the supply chain works!

And things need to be delivered during the day as well as at night?
Especially building supplies, furniture etc.

A large part of the reason trucks are involved in or "cause" accidents is because people are impatient/idiots, they're likely to try and overtake something like van as they are a truck now that a lot of vans are limited in speed.

I think where possible most haulage firms already do night runs as much as practical as it tends to be faster but there are limits, and I think some trucks are run pretty much 24/7 to maximise their use.

Nail & Head.

d.

Forget accidents.

I would want to know where the truck is parked up for the night so I can inspect the screen...I'd just look at it, not have a set of tools and a roofrack/trailer to assist in augmenting my Christmas light displays.
Honest.;)

/wonders if you can get a vesa mount for the screens.

How big is your trailer & roof rack as you maybe lucky and this one will be parked next to Samsung lorry..:D

Now that's a TV!
Not quite the right aspect ratio for proper viewing of 2001 though;)

I'm guessing if the wind gets up too much they retract the screen pretty sharpish.
