The Shortest Day

Whilst it's the shortest day today, it has been getting lighter in the evening for about a week now, but won't start getting lighter in the morning for another week or so.

nope not in agreement with you on that, I love the dark. always have. Love the winter too, just wish we got proper winters with snow - not just this wet miserable muck that we have for weather

I love winter and the darker days, not sure why.

I still go fishing over night this time of year (to be honest this weekend was mild enough that it was warmer than many summer nights when i went earlier in the year. Nothing like having a gammon joint roasting all day in a Cobb BBQ and being bundled up warm on a bed-chair in the fresh air, cutting off pieces of gammon as you want them. mmmm

I work on the river, which is lovely until you have a million larvae hatch and you are forced to take your lunch inside or risk food getting covered in bugs.

This was the first year I really noticed and enjoyed the leaves turning oranges, reds and browns.... Really liked it!

Can deffo do without the silly darkness though!

You wanna try moving up to Aberdeen. Winter up there is like that 28 days of night film. Conversely, it can be a glorious sunny day at 11pm in the summer which is nice for garden BBQs, but also gets bright at 3am. Go out clubbing in the high afternoon sun and leave the club to the same. Try going to sleep in that!

not if I can avoid it! sunshine is all well and good if I am on holiday and laying on a beach supping cold beer, but other than being on holidays I want it dark and snowing!!

Was pretty bright when I left this morning, 8 AM. Does annoy me when it's dark early though, much prefer it being bright until about 9ish, makes the day feel longer.
