To be fair, it probably has got more people interested in this competition than it would have done normally.

Simple mistakes happen and when they happen so spectacularly, you shouldn't be any harsher on the guy. Instead you should just sit back and pretend it was one of those super cringey rom-com films in the 90s and just enjoy the show.

As an "A" grade cynic my first reaction was that it was probably pre-planned and deliberate in order to gain publicity for a competition that almost no-one cares about and that would have not gained any press coverage at all under normal circumstances.
