My 780 is on it's way out/dead, It's starting to run really slow in games i can't get more than 10FPS on GTA V or play anything really.

I've checked all my drivers, Uninstalled, reinstalled and no luck so it has to be the GPU.

I was upgrading anyway but a unfortunate time for it to die as i won't be able play for at least another month or so.

Merry xmas to me :(

Have you tried underclocking it in a program like MSI afterburner?

Try setting it to standard GTX780 speeds (Classified is overclocked by default IIRC) and give it a try. It might have degraded over time so be unable to sit at the same clocks.

What power supply do you have by the way? Any other hardware changes recently?

My 780TI Matrix caught fire a few days before Fallout 4 released, and I had to use a GTX260 for several weeks, so I know them feels! :p

Not tried underclocking it as i'm unaware how to, If you mean setting it to default though, Everything is set to default for the past 2 weeks now on MSI afterburner.

Strange one and not really seen this happen to frames without it being software fault. Have you tried installing a clean windows just to see?

After reinstalling windows and reinstalling some games i still have the issue. It's very strange and now i'm not 100% sure if it is the card or something else.

For E.G i just opened GTA V at the main menu says 64FPS then when it goes to load the music just stops and comes back every 2 seconds and i get 3-11fps.

Not sure what it could be, Same thing with the witcher 3 except the witcher 3 doesn't even want to go to in game as it just crashes before had sitting at like 3-10fps on low.

whats the rest of your PC specs? are you using a SSD or HDD to install games and the OS from?

if you have a SLI board maybe try the GPU in another slot

i7 4790k 4.6 ghz
Asus Maximus vii formula
16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum ram
Samsung 840 Pro 500GB SSD
Samsung 850 evo 256GB SSD
Seagate 3TB HDD

I'm using 2 separate SSD's for different games that i'm having issues with. And my SSD has windows 10 on it.

Can't really try putting the GPU in another slot because of watercooling and it would be to much hassle. So when i remove the block and put the stock cooler back on then i can try it.

Thats fair enough, have you tried a clear cmos option and put everything back to stock for troubleshooting?

have you checked event viewer to see if there is any errors for the games that dont load? may not have anything if you have done a OS re install already.

do you have a spare gpu you could use to rule out the gpu at fault?

If your CPU is running at stock and everything else is stock and you still have it, it would seem like it is a faulty card. Does it boost up ok with Afterburner?

MSI afterburner shows to be working fine displaying that it knows that the card is connected and the temps and clocks are being displayed and GPU boost kicks in so you can see the clocks fluctuating.

I could be wrong but if the clocks are fluctuating then the power phases could be damaged. I had a CPU doing it, turns out the board was messed up.

Edit, please read. I just noticed this in another thread.

Have you downloaded anything dodgy, it could be a GPU bitcoin miner or something?

And then it dawned on me that exactly that happened to me a few months ago. So before throwing in the towel I would download MBAM and run it just to make sure nothing is using your GPU or CPU.

I had exactly this problem with a 780 sapphire card. It was a driver problem. A normal driver uninstall and install did not work. I had to uninstall using DDU then installed the latest driver, and it was fixed.

Here is a link for DDU to help you out: display-driver-uninstaller
